Runnin’ Around

Boy what a very busy girl I have been! Lots going on in life, but suffice to say, I feel like I don’t have a moment to myself. So, what should any sane person do during times like this? Oh…start a blog. Makes perfect sense :) And then get a minor in computer programming trying to figure out where and how to insert HTML code and play around with my CSS Sheet. Huh? Yeah, I know. If you want your blog to look cute, and I mean, is it even worth doing something if it’s not gonna turn out cute? I think not. Thus, I have been learning code.

Anyhoo…this was last night’s dinner for me. Lots of greens, tomato, red pepper, corn, carrots, broccoli buried in there somewhere too. I love me some broccoli. Seriously, I think I could eat broccoli every day and not get sick of it. Scott on the other hand…not so much.

Scott’s dinner, sorta a version of mine. Sans broccoli of course, but added turkey meatballs and Italian dressing. I like a squeeze of OJ and a dash of agave on my salads, but I usually give him something with a bit more oomph.

But not before my little love bug gave me some of her Idol Eyes. I am flattered, touched to tears, and just love that little girl so much and I truly believe she idolizes me. I feel blessed. I remember as a little girl idolizing my mom and the cycle repeats with Skylar. Don’t you think all little girls idolize their mom? Well provided their mom is even semi-normal? Ok maybe don’t answer that one.

After the shower I realized that my beloved Jay Robb brown rice protein powder is running low and I may have to break out this industrial-sized can of NutriBiotic. Before I tried dear Jay’s BRPP (that’s not a burp, that’s Brown Rice Protein Powder), I had only tried NutriBiotic’s. And, sadly, I always felt like I was drinking dirt. Isn’t it HEAB that believes hemp protein is akin to eating dirt? Well, kidlets, save your cash-ola and take a pass on the NutriBiotics. I bought it on the recommendation of my Naturopath, and it was locally available in the health food store, so I thought cool. But no…I will never re-purchase it. But I feel guilty about throwing things like this away.

Do you ever feel guilty about throwing away something you know was sorta expensive? Ironically, when it comes to clothes and household stuff, I am a huge, huge, huge believer in de-cluttering, donating, and just getting the Crap out of my house! I guess I should prolly do the same with the ole dirt here.

I also don’t believe drinking one’s PP needs to be a federal case. Meaning, yeah sure, I could get out the Vita-Mix, add fruit, add almond milk, add a variety of yummy fruits or veggies or add it to my oats, or add it to whatever but sometimes I don’t have time for that, or don’t even want all that. I just want to drink up my protein quickly, in water, and be done. What’s your favorite way to consume your BRPP if you’re into BRPP?

Went to Trader Joe’s for a few staples. Organic baby spring mix salad, org (organic) cukes, 4 white peaches, 2 ears of corn, 1 bottle of org agave, blueberries, brussle’s sprouts (a member of the brassica family, also included in that family are broccoli, cabbage, & bok choy..there’s your food trivia du jour). 15 org fruit leathers for Skylar, she loves those things and gets one every day or every other day when we’re driving somewhere. Great keep-toddler-quiet-and-happy-food. And let’s not forget those 2 cans of dark roast Sumatra. Yep, still drink coffee. Yep, still love it. Nope, not quitting it any time soon.

After being pregnant and/or nursing a child for the past 3.5 years, I have not drank alcohol. At all. Personal choice, I realize I “could”, but don’t. However, I have not given up my ‘joe and don’t plan on it. For all your Healthy People out there, what’s your vice? What food or beverage or anything have you not given up? Why? For me, it’s the warmth, the caffeine addiction, the happy mood, and the wake my ass up mood it puts me in!

Last but not least, went to Border’s to use a coupon post-transaction that I had received in my email the day after I bought these two books. Everyday Raw and Eat Drink & Be Vegan. The Border’s people were cool enough to honor it, but the parking lot, the shopping plaza traffic, the insane line at the checkout…it made me wonder if it was really worth it for the few bucks in savings, but hey, I did it. You’d never know the economy was in the crapper lookin’ at the people lined up to buy books at the San Diego Border’s on a weekday morning!

  1. FF–thanks for that link! Now that's how you all afford raw cocoa powder…you don't buy it at WF where it's $38 dollars for a tiny little jar. Amazon, here I come for my raw cocoa!

  2. Hi Girl on Raw, thanks for stopping by and for the compliment on my bloggie recipes! Thank you!! and for the blogroll add. How great!

I like the Jay Robb brown rice protein powder. It's only the 2nd one I have tried. In this post I definitely said No to the Nutribiotic.

The other one people really like is Sun Warrior. I have a link to it on my blog. But it is pricey at $45-50 per can. The Jay Robb is about $30. The Jay Robb though has a distinct stevia taste that if your boyf can't handle stevia, then I'd go with the Sun Warrior. However I never thought I could handle stevia but the Jay Robb is totally fine by me.

And no, I steam my brussel's sprouts in tad of water in the microwave for 30 seconds. They are just too…harsh otherwise :)

  3. Hey your brownies look awesome too! Thanks for stopping by my blog. I am glad you did because now I founds yours. You have some great stuff on here. I'm gonna add you to my blog roll too. Hey and that Brown Rice Protein Powder looks great. My boyf has been looking for something like that. Do you like it?

  4. Thanks for stoppin' by and showin' some love, Holly! I already had you in my blogroll b/c I have always enjoyed the creative flair in your recipes and posts, yet your dishes are unfussy and you use whole food ingredients. There are so many veggies/vegans who don't get that and although it may not contain animal product, it has other crap in it I don't prefer :) Glad you're enjoying the posts. Hope you keep reading!
