Making Weekend Plans, Lens Review

TGIF friends!  What’s going on with you this weekend?  It’s beautiful in San Diego.  75F and sunny, and crystal blue skies.

I’m working but hope to enjoy the weather as much as possible.  Fresh air and sunshine does my brain so much good.  It just recharges me to be outside.

Yesterday I had a green salad.  Well, every day I do.  It’s just that 99% of the time I don’t photograph them anymore.

Dressed with Vegan Slaw Dressing that I didn’t pour until photos were done.  Which can take anywhere from 3 to 15 minutes.  And on desserts or special recipes that I know I want to blog about, even longer.

Never know how long it will take me to figure out my lens.

I’ve found myself not really as in love with the 50mm f/1.8 lens as I wish.  I sort of alluded to that in my last post. It’s not that I hate it, I just don’t adore and love it the way I had hoped.
And all the photos in this post are taken with the Stock Lens that came with the camera or my old point and shoot for the desserts, below.

The details in my pictures are just as good, if not better, than what I was getting from the nifty fifty lens, I think.

Such a learning curve to figure out what to lens to shoot with.  And what settings.

It should also be noted that these photos were taken at night, no natural lighting whatsoever, and no flash.  Just the lighting from my kitchen lights.  I still need to make that lightbox!  I know Evan, Heather, Ashley, Ashley, Angela, Katie, and Allie have made theirs.

I like how this lens can capture the ridges in the cucumber even in a very dark kitchen.  Note the one piece of edamame in the center of the frame to give you a frame of reference for size and scale.

Ok, enough lens talk.

From my last post about being a girlie girl, or not, it was great to hear you chime in.  Most everyone said you are a mixture of girlie girl and not.  And lots of self-proclaimed tomboys, too.

And I am glad you liked my weekend snack ideas and it was fun to learn if you’re more snacky on the weekends and what you like to snack on.

Another thing I like to snack on is…

1 Minute GF Vegan Apple Crumble
….And Raw Vegan Peanut Butter Vanilla Balls (or Sunflower Seed/Almond/Cashew Butter)

Dessert: Vegan Fudge
Easy to make, wonderful to eat. Vegan and GF and SoyFree just happen to be a side bonus.

Questions
1. What’s on your agenda for the weekend?
I am:
Working
Working Out
Spending Time with Scott & Skylar
Cooking
Running Errands
Reading Blogs & Emails
And who knows what else.  My schedule already seems jam-packed but who knows….

2. Do you like to make plans for the weekend or do you like to wing it?
My schedule is a little different because I work weekends but am off early or mid-week so on the weekend it’s kind of business as usual for me, and not too much time for social calls or extra fun stuff, but I always try to leave a little wiggle room in my schedule for random things that come up.

I absolutely hate weekends, or any days, where every single minute is scheduled and accounted for or running from one appointment to the next.   Sadly, that’s most of my days.  haha!

But seriously, I don’t like to over-schedule myself when it comes to my personal or free time.  It stresses me out and causes me to want bail on all the plans I made and just stay home!  So I have learned, less is more, and not over-scheduling my free time, is best for me.

How do you deal with plans and scheduling things?

3. Any camera and photography buffs want to talk lenses?
Feel free to chime in with any lenses you love.  And why. And what you shoot with that particular lens.  I am all ears.

And if anyone knows of a great website that breaks down what all the numbers mean, a basic lens review, let me know. Don’t drop in more than one link or your comment will go into moderation.

Enjoy your weekend everyone!
