Whooo Whooo

When I was at the mall on Friday, it was hard for me to resist going into Anthropologie.

So I didn’t resist it.

I went in.

And drooled over all the amazing merchandise.

So many cute things for the house and home, dinnerware, and it just screams girly, frilly, perfection to me.

After all it was a Girly Mall Trip

All these owl cookie jars made me want to bake cookies just so I could buy a cookie jar.

I haven’t actually used a cookie jar since the mid 1980s but that’s ok.  There’s always a time for new beginnings.

They were screaming buy me! buy me They were saying Whooo Whooo

You probably don’t have to put cookies in them

But I’d like to put a batch of Vegan Coconut Banana Cookie Bites (gluten free)

or a batch of Flourless Peanut Butter Cookies (gluten free) into an owl

When I see anything owl, I think of Janetha (our fearless leader who spear-headed the Great Fundraising Act for Susan).  Janetha loves her owls!

And I love anything in Anthro.

I mean, a hand-painted juicer that doubles as a mini “pitcher” to pour the juice from is ultra practical, right?

I also thumbed through Donna Hay’s book

It’s stunning.  Her food photography is some of the best out there.

(Not to be confused with my iPhone-meets-trying-to-shoot-quickly-and-discreetly-and-not-look-like-a-weirdo-in-the-store photography)

If you’re not familiar with Donna Hay, she’s what I would describe as an Australian version of Martha Stewart in terms of being a cook, having style and decorating ideas for the home, is the author of many books and magazines, has television shows, but this woman’s photography is out of this world crazy good.  In both her magazines and her books.  Not that Martha’s photography isn’t good, but Donna’s is sublime.

Matt tipped me off to Donna’s amazing-ness during our workshop and I’ve been stalking her site and books ever since but had never actually seen Seasons.

Awesome book but I don’t need to spend $50 on another book.  We talked about me and books and unpacking.

In the end, I left Anthro empty-handed.

And I also walked past LV and left empty-handed.

I posted this one on Instagram

Window shopping is still fun, though!

Not as fun as actual shopping but I’d like to remain debt free.

And I did get a few MAC and Victoria’s Secret trinkets so I didn’t leave the mall totally empty-handed.  Lip gloss and body spray, cheap thrills baby.  Cheap thrills.

I came home and went to town on watermelon

Which totally hit the spot.  But cookies would have hit the spot, too.

And from my freezer stash, I found some No Bake Toffee & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Bites

Essentially this is Heath Bar & Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.  You don’t have to twist my arm.

It pays to be a dessert pack-rat of sorts.  I freeze everything I make and pull out one or two of whatever I want, when I want it.  You will always have tons of choices if you utilize the freezer storage method for your desserts, i.e. the dessert pack-rat method.

My favorite beverage is water but, I also love a stevia sweetened glass of iced yerba mate as well.

Congrats, Kelly!

Questions:

1. Do you like Anthropologie?

If you say no, I question your sanity a bit.  I could have a field.day. in that store.   Household goods, clothes, books, sheets, towels, dishes, jewelry, I could go crazy.

Stores like World Market, Pier 1, and thrift store shopping are nice, but I won’t lie, Anthro rocks.

I love West Elm’s look and vibe, but the girly, frilly, cute, sweet, one thing cuter than the next, and just ooh and ahh factor of Anthro makes my heart go pitter patter.

But hey, if it’s not your thing, tell me what is instead.  If you’re one of those people who “doesn’t like to shop”, I do not relate.

2. Do you like animal-themed decor?  Do you have a favorite animal that is just ‘you’?

Some people are really into anything with cats on it.  Or anything with dogs on it and if it has a certain kind of dogs like pugs or chihuahuas or whatever dog they’re into, it’s an automatic hit.

Janetha likes owls.  Some people like ladybugs or frogs or birds or whatever “their animal” is, it’s an almost automatic purchase.

I can’t say I have any animals like that or that I go ga-ga over, but those owl jars are really cute!

3. Best thing you ate or did over the weekend?

I shopped.  I have a few more shopping finds posts.  Hope you don’t mind.  Nothing major purchased but it was fun to browse and shop a little.

I also got an amazing footrub and backrub from Scott while Skylar was telling me “secrets” by whispering in my ear and giggling on the couch.  Love from my husband, love from my child, on the couch with a footrub and backrup.  <– Yep, that was truly the highlight of my weekend!

Housekeeping Notes:

1. I  guest posted on Angela of Oh She Glow’s site on Saturday.  Please check out my post with my 5 favorite vegan recipes that I shared.  Angela is such a doll and a wonderful friend and I was excited when she asked me to guestie on her site.

Thanks to everyone who commented there or who told me here that you saw the and liked it.  Thank you so much!

I hope your week is off to a good start.  Mine involves an airport.

I absolutely love Anthropologie, and I could decorate my entire house with merchandise from that store, not to mention that I would love my entire wardrobe to be from there. I’m also a big fan of animal-themed decor. I’m personally a fan of Roosters for kitchen decor, and I love elephant decor as well. Elephants with their trunks up are a good luck symbol in India, so I’m always drawn to them. Those cookie dough bites look delicious!

Oh, I was on a Anthropologie store in new York last year- and I LOVED it! I didnt want to leave, and I couldnt buy too much because it would be difficoult to carry it. But I did buy my measure cups there-which I love! And i got some really pretty tea cups for my parents.
Best thing Ive eaten over the weekend: raw brownies and roasted veggies!

I love Anthro….My cousin just went to the one in Santa Monica last weekend, where they had a personal shopper hanging out by the dressing room. She put together an entire wardrobe (almost) for my cousin that was so amazing. Of course, my cousin is a producer so she could just buy everything. How satisfying would that feel!!!
I don’t have a thing for any specific animal—sometimes I’ll be drawn to one in a store, but I’m a very non-knick-knacky person so I don’t usually buy anything. Before I was mature and responsible, I decided I’d buy all designer furniture…that lasted one eames chair and a nelson bench…now I am much more practical…but it has to look good and not be junk (unless I’m only planning to use it for a little while)!

    Shopping is awesome :)

Okay, I have this question that I ask myself of you every time I see your store pictures, and it’s one I’m guessing you’ve had to answer before. But do you ever have store managers/workers ask you to not take pictures? I swear, the two times I’ve been in a (different) store with friends and we took pictures of something ridiculous, we were yelled at from across the room not to take pictures in store. Maybe because we were teenagers and looked sketchy, I dunno, haha. That aside, I love that you do it, lol. I feel like I’m being let in on stores I don’t get to see – TJ’s, Anthro, etc!

I’ve never been in an Anthropologie but I think I would love it! Probably a good thing I’ve never been in one…my wallet might be in trouble ;)

no but I am FAST! I whip it out and am done

and sometimes people know i am taking pics and they are cool with it..I think they think I am a photographer. like a real one. lol

The apple store employees start posing! for me

And if people were ever not cool w/ it, i wouldnt do it.

But remember…this is the land of 4 lb dogs dressed up in tutus that are allowed in the dressing rooms of Neiman Marcus and Nordstrom. Where you will trying on a $1000 dress and some lady’s dog comes walking into your room. Reality is different here :)

And I have a little thing for all things elephants. My bed spread is simple elephants, and I have other touches of them throughout my room. Best thing I did this weekend was visit my friends on the island I used to live on! The beach is my happy place.

Last week I had a business meeting at the Starbucks right next to the Anthro in New Orleans (strategic planning on my part) and I just happened to have time to browse when done! I bought the cutest paper clips with crocheted flowers on top and some thank you notes. I really wanted those blue ceramic farmers market berry crates, but they were out.

That watermelon looks delicious! So far we have picked two from our garden. I ate the 1st one myself and am having to share the 2nd with my kids.

I’ve never been in an Anthro store, but from what I’ve seen on the internet I would have a hard time controlling myself. Their stuff looks exotic and classy; beautiful prints and colors.

Yesterday my YMCA had its employee appreciation day at the county fair. Free admission and lunch in a reserved VIP tent: B-B-Q tri-tip, ribs and chicken, beans, corn on the cob and cole slaw. I’m glad I’m not vegetarian, or it would have just been corn and cole slaw! (The beans had meat in it, too.)

I have heard the name Anthropologie, but haven’t ever actually been to one.

Unless you count Snoopy as an animal unto himself, I don’t really have one that is just “me.” But I have at least 30 Snoopys of various kinds. My brother actually just got back from a trip to Japan and he brought me back a Snoopy. And when I went to Europe (wow over a decade ago!) I got one for myself. I have no recollection as to why I started collecting them, but Snoopys are definitely me.
