Coffee Giveaway

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters of La Jolla, California recently won the 2012 Micro Roaster of the Year Award.  It’s the first time this award has gone to a local San Diego area coffee roaster.

Bird Rock Coffee Roasters sent me their Guatemala and Sumatra coffees to sample.  One word: amazing.   The quality, taste, everything about their coffee is first class, superb, and makes me want to drink myself into jittery oblivion.  So good.

In addition to just drinking as is, the coffee was lovely in homemade pumpkin spice lattes (vegan).

From their website, “At Bird Rock Coffee Roasters, we are all about quality: From the farmer to the beans, the roasting to the brewing, to our service, our relationship with our neighborhood and our impact on the environment. We are always striving for perfection. The green beans we seek must meet our high standards, and we roast and prepare this coffee with the utmost respect to those who grew it.”

I love coffee so much that I have a Coffee Reviews compilation post where I’ve mentioned dozens of varieties and brands of coffee.

And Bird Rock Coffee Roasters would like one lucky reader to win some coffee!  One bag of each of the coffee they sent me.

Honestly, it’s not particularly gourmet, but two recent favorites have been the Dunkin Donuts plain ground coffee and an off-brand hazelnut-cinnamon (perfect for the coming winter). When I’m being fancier, I adore Kickapoo beans (they roast a blend specifically for a local coffee shop, which also sells it by the pound).
I drink coffee both at home and at coffee shops. I’m a sucker for my morning cup of french press before I switch to tea, and then I usually pick up a cup on campus at some point between classes when I’m dragging, andddd I work at a coffee shop. So free coffee whenever I’m on shift. My caffeine problem is swiftly developing out of control, despite my best efforts. My slight addiction to all things holiday (and therefore the Starbucks cups) doesn’t help.

I make my coffee in a to-go French press mug. Add grounds, hot water and let it sit before plunging. I can even take my coffee hiking and skiing in this cup!

My favorite type of coffee is starbucks coffee! When my brother worked there about a year ago he would come home with about three packs a week (because he got them for free) and i loved it!!! I miss it now that he doesn’t work there and there coffee is a bit expensive so i can only afford to buy it by the cupful every now and then. I live in a very small hippy town which has organic and local everything, including an amazing organic coffee bar called “Moodys” and unlike many coffee bars they have EVERYTHING. agave, soymilk, oatmilk, almond milk, natural sugars and stevia. Its amazing and i go there almost every lunch to get chai :) i love it !!

Wait, what?!?! BIRD Rock Coffee? That’s got my name all over it!! And Sumatra is my fave country of origin. I recently went out on a limb and tried a new coffee….bad. I’m finishing it up now, but every cup is an exercise in willpower. I don’t think I’ll make it through the whole thing. The Peppermint Mocha coffeemate I bought helps though. ;)

Oohhh coffee, how I love thee <3

We brew our coffee at home: it comes from Saltspring Island which isn't far from where we live, so that's pretty cool (plus it tastes AMAZING!!). When we're out, though, Starbucks is the favourite. I'm all about soy vanilla Americano mistos ;)

We drink alot of Alterra coffee here. We mostly try to drink coffee at home but sometimes we indulge at a small local coffee house. I keep hearing about these IKEA hand frothers. I really must invest in one.

    Did somebody say “free coffee”?
That’s pretty much the only time I go to coffee houses; when somebody else is buying! For the price of three or four coffee house coffees, I can buy an entire pound of coffee to fix at home.

Funny….I have coffee in a giveaway right now too! My fave is a local roaster called Dalai Java. They roast the beans in a yurt, and then when they grind them for you, they add whatever herb blends you want (like for longevity, relax, etc.). My fave is the Mexican coffee with Longevity herbs (there’s a hint of cinnamon).
