Avocado Recipes & Giveaway

I just received a beautiful shipment of fuerte avocados from CaliforniaAvocadosDirect.com

I’ve posted previously about CaliforniaAvocadosDirect.com and mentioned that it’s a family farm and how each avocado is inspected, hand-selected, and hand-picked before it’s shipped to consumers.

The farm in 2010

Here are some of my favorite recipes using avocados:

Avocado, Cream Cheese, and Salsa-Stuffed Puff Pastries (with a vegan option)

What’s not to love about squishy warm avocado, with melted cream cheese, flavored with two kinds of salsa to give the bites just a touch of sweet from the mango salsa and a kick from the green salsa verde.

Vanilla Avocado Banana Ice Cream (Raw, Vegan, GF)

You cannot “taste” the avocado.  Trust me on this one; it’s really rich, creamy, sweet, and very ice cream-like.

People write to me frequently telling me how much they love this healthier recipe for ice cream.  And that their unsuspecting husbands and kids do, too.

Cheater’s Guacamole

3 minute recipe.  No veggie, onion, or garlic chopping required.

Vanilla Avocado Banana Smoothie in a Bowl

Sweet, creamy, pudding-like.  Or thin it out a bit more and drink it with a straw like a smoothie.

Raw Vegan Chocolate Mousse (Raw, Vegan, Gluten Free)

This recipe takes 2 minutes to make and when I bring it to a party, no one ever guesses what the secret ingredient is, and it’s instantly devoured by all.  People tell me they prefer it to traditional chocolate mousse made with boiling cream and sugar.

Would you like to win a shipment of creamy, delicious  fuerte avocados from CaliforniaAvocadosDirect.com that have just come into season and are being hand-picked right now at their peak?

Avocados…yum! My favorite way to eat avocado is mushed up slightly, with a little bit of salt, and spread on tortillas for soft tacos. Such a perfect creamy flavor and texture. =)

I love avocados as a mayo substitute or in guac. Only savory settings for me! I made your avocado banana pudding/ice cream and just couldn’t get into it. If I win, I’ll most likely try your vegan fudge recipe, because I’m so curious about it. And a huge bowl of quac. I mean HUGE!

    My favorite weekday breakfast:
I toast 1/2 slice pumpernickel bread
put a tiny bit of ketchup
    thinly slice 1/6 avocado
top with one egg, over easy

An open-face breakfast sandwich that leaves me satisfied until lunch!

I like to make guacamole with lime juice, garlic powder, minced dried onion, dried cilantro, salt and pepper, hot sauce. If I use for a dip, I chop tomatoes and grated cheddar cheese also. But, I really like to make guacamole tostados, spread refried beans (optional), guacamole, shredded lettuce, grated cheese, chopped tomatoes.
