Avocado Recipes & Giveaway

I just received a beautiful shipment of fuerte avocados from CaliforniaAvocadosDirect.com

I’ve posted previously about CaliforniaAvocadosDirect.com and mentioned that it’s a family farm and how each avocado is inspected, hand-selected, and hand-picked before it’s shipped to consumers.

The Holtz family avocado farm in 1973

The farm in 2010

Here are some of my favorite recipes using avocados:

Avocado, Cream Cheese, and Salsa-Stuffed Puff Pastries (with a vegan option)

What’s not to love about squishy warm avocado, with melted cream cheese, flavored with two kinds of salsa to give the bites just a touch of sweet from the mango salsa and a kick from the green salsa verde.

Vanilla Avocado Banana Ice Cream (Raw, Vegan, GF)

You cannot “taste” the avocado.  Trust me on this one; it’s really rich, creamy, sweet, and very ice cream-like.

People write to me frequently telling me how much they love this healthier recipe for ice cream.  And that their unsuspecting husbands and kids do, too.

Cheater’s Guacamole

3 minute recipe.  No veggie, onion, or garlic chopping required.

Vanilla Avocado Banana Smoothie in a Bowl

Sweet, creamy, pudding-like.  Or thin it out a bit more and drink it with a straw like a smoothie.

Raw Vegan Chocolate Mousse (Raw, Vegan, Gluten Free)

This recipe takes 2 minutes to make and when I bring it to a party, no one ever guesses what the secret ingredient is, and it’s instantly devoured by all.  People tell me they prefer it to traditional chocolate mousse made with boiling cream and sugar.

Would you like to win a shipment of creamy, delicious  fuerte avocados from CaliforniaAvocadosDirect.com that have just come into season and are being hand-picked right now at their peak?

I LOVE avocados so much. I just made a Cranberry Avocado salsa for Christmas and it was unbelievable: Here’s the link to the recipe: http://fitnessandfeta.com/2011/12/29/three-appetizers-for-thursday/

    Great giveaway!

    I am a AVOCADO-HOLIC. Weird, right?

Most of the time I like to cut my avocado into wedges and dip in some honey. May not sound to appetizing, but it is truly amazing. Perfect snack item too.

I also love a piece of whole-wheat toast topped with mashed avocado. Such a dream come true.

I love to mix avocado, fresh chipotle powder, salt and lime (and sometimes Mama Tutu’s Hot Sauce). I mash it together and eat them with carrots and celery. I have had this everyday for lunch.
