Green & Fluffy

I spent part of Saturday morning playing in the kitchen.

With Oreos and green food coloring and marshmallow fluff.

I felt like such a kid in a candy store. Literally.

Though it wasn’t all sugar and green food dye #3. I ate some of this type of green and fluffy stuff, too.

Raw Pasta Salad with Creamy Lemon & Herb Dressing

I had a really nice day with my family and for part of the day, we were outside and took in the green trees and palm trees. It was a windy day, and although sunny, it was on the chilly side.

What did you do today?

When was the last time you made something with food coloring?

Prior to making the Snickerdoodle Cookie Bars with Pink Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting it had been awhile for me.

Easter is coming up and maybe we’ll decorate eggs this year and if we do, it won’t be the “natural” beet juice way. It will be the red dye #40 way.

Thanks for the entries on the Babycakes Cupcake Maker & Cookbook Giveaway

The last thing I made with food colouring was a big batch of valentine’s cookies for my students.

I almost spralized a zucchini for lunch but instead I threw it in the vita mix to make honey mustard dressing (w/ nooch) to go on my kale. Lots of green in that salad! I was re-organizing my cupboard a few weeks ago and found some old (and mostly dried up) food coloring so it has probably been years since I’ve used it. The green marshmallow fluffy stuff you made reminds me of spring and looks good enough to eat by the spoonful!

I don’t use food coloring unless I’m making red velvet cake… most of my green food is from spinach. :)

That zucchini pasta looks fantastic! I made one last week too. Don’t know why, but I always forget about it!

Haha, well it sure is easier dying with the food dye. Beet juice takes forever.

It’s been years since I used food coloring-last I recall I made a boyfriend a red velvet cake but used blue dye. I’d had to buy like four sets of food coloring to get enough red to make him his requested red velvet the year before. The smurf cake, we called it.
We broke up before I could use the other colors in the sets to make a green cake and a yellow cake.

Today I taught and took some Yoga.

Last time I cooked with food dye was very recently, when a friend taught me how to make French macarons. You ever had those? They’re delicious! We made our cherry flavored, and used gel food coloring to dye them accordingly ;-)

Looks like a fun project, can’t wait to see what you made! I used food coloring to make a few red velvet treats around Valentine’s Day.

Hehe, it was yesterday when I did something with food coloring: I added some red food coloring to my pink tulips (don’t like pink) to see if they change the color. They did a little. Check the photo on my blog. :)

Is that going to be a recipe for St. Paddy´s?
The last time I used food dye was for St. Paddy´s 2 years ago, when I died CCK´s raw fudge balls ;)
I love the colours, but don´t like using the artificial ones for health reasons, though natural food dyes can be great for cupcakes.

I have this huge thing with lemon flavored foods. I don’t how. I don’t why. I don’t when. But i just do.

My favorite cupcake flavor is Lemon Blueberry. A blueberry cake topped with lemon cream cheese icing. Yum!

Hmm, working on a St. Patty’s day recipe?! Minty oreo something, sounds delicious!

Your blue sky pictures never cease to amaze me. If I were you, I’d have an outdoor kitchen so I could bake cookies all day in the gorgeous weather. ;)

Food dyes freak me out, so I tend to use foods that are whatever color I’m going for. Obviously it wouldn’t work all the time, and I eat plenty of other chemicals ;) I don’t know, they’re just weird to me!

Sounds like a wonderful day, our weather was perfect here yesterday too for a long run and long dog walk.

So fun playing with food coloring, it’s been so long for me that I can’t remember the last time I used it!
