I spent part of Saturday morning playing in the kitchen.

I felt like such a kid in a candy store. Literally.

Though it wasn’t all sugar and green food dye #3. I ate some of this type of green and fluffy stuff, too.

I had a really nice day with my family and for part of the day, we were outside and took in the green trees and palm trees. It was a windy day, and although sunny, it was on the chilly side.

When was the last time you made something with food coloring?

Prior to making the Snickerdoodle Cookie Bars with Pink Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting it had been awhile for me.

Easter is coming up and maybe we’ll decorate eggs this year and if we do, it won’t be the “natural” beet juice way. It will be the red dye #40 way.

  1. Sounds like a wonderful day, our weather was perfect here yesterday too for a long run and long dog walk.

    So fun playing with food coloring, it’s been so long for me that I can’t remember the last time I used it!

  2. Food dyes freak me out, so I tend to use foods that are whatever color I’m going for. Obviously it wouldn’t work all the time, and I eat plenty of other chemicals ;) I don’t know, they’re just weird to me!

    Your blue sky pictures never cease to amaze me. If I were you, I’d have an outdoor kitchen so I could bake cookies all day in the gorgeous weather. ;)

  5. I have this huge thing with lemon flavored foods. I don’t how. I don’t why. I don’t when. But i just do.

    My favorite cupcake flavor is Lemon Blueberry. A blueberry cake topped with lemon cream cheese icing. Yum!

  6. Is that going to be a recipe for St. Paddy´s?
    The last time I used food dye was for St. Paddy´s 2 years ago, when I died CCK´s raw fudge balls ;)
    I love the colours, but don´t like using the artificial ones for health reasons, though natural food dyes can be great for cupcakes.
