Pure Vanilla Cookbook Giveaway

I recently received a copy of Shauna Server’s second book, Pure Vanilla: Irresistible Recipes and Essential Techniques

Pure Vanilla celebrates vanilla in all its glory with a stunning array of recipes from cakes and cookies to custards and creams.

Even with a history as rich as its naturally dreamy, creamy flavor, vanilla is often overlooked, misunderstood, and generally taken for granted. Hundreds of cookbooks wax poetic about chocolate, while vanilla sits by the sidelines, but Shauna gave this not-so-plain flavor its due. Pure Vanilla celebrates this heavenly, ambrosial spice and all the amazing complex flavors it has to offer.

The book contains 80 Recipes and dozens of photographs for vanilla-based treats and techniques, including:

Glazed Vanilla Bean Doughnuts

Vanilla Cloud Cake

Vanilla Bean Meringue Kisses

Sea Salt Caramels

Warm Vanilla Rice Pudding

Malted White Hot Chocolate

Golden Pear Vanilla Jam

Vanilla Ice Cream

Homemade Vanilla Extract

Vanilla Sugar

Vanilla-Infused Liquors

A complete history of vanilla from orchid to extract

The origins and tasting notes for all of today’s varieties of vanilla

Step aside, chocolate – It’s time for Pure Vanilla

Some of my favorite vanilla-based recipes include:

I also reviewed Shauna’s first book Marshmallow Madness!: Dozens of Puffalicious Recipes in this post, and provided some of my favorite marshmallow-based recipes. I love her subjects matters: marshmallows and vanilla. Can’t go wrong with either.

Here are a few of my favorite recipes using vanilla:

Pumpkin Cinnamon Overnight Pull-Apart French Toast with Vanilla Maple Butter – Vanilla is used both in the marinade of this effortless, easy, overnight monkey-bread meets French toast, as well as in the maple-butter syrup. Great for brunches and holiday get togethers

Banana Bread Brownies with Vanilla Caramel Glaze – I used vanilla twice in these brownies-meets-banana-bread, which are extra fudgy, moist, rich and now I don’t have to choose between making brownies or banana bread

White Chocolate Vanilla Marshmallow Cake Bars – These are some of my favorite bars I’ve ever made. There are four layers including cake, peanut butter, sweetened condensed milk, white chocolate; and vanilla is used in three of the layers

Spiced Apple and Banana Bundt Cake with Vanilla Caramel Glaze – A fast and easy whisk-together cake with the most divine vanilla-infused homemade caramel glaze and is my absolute favorite frosting

Cinnamon Oatmeal Date Bars with Chocolate Chunks (no-bake, vegan, gluten-free) – Like eating a bowl of cinnamon oatmeal, that’s been spiked with vanilla, and topped with chocolate two ways, but in bar form. No refined sugar added and take mere minutes to no-bake right up

Homemade Vanilla Extract – Ridiculously easy, effortless, and saves money. Rich, smooth, and you’ll never want storebought vanilla again

And I’m having a Vanilla Bean Sampler Pack and Glass Jar Giveaway to get started making your own

Fave vanilla use: Whipped cream married with powdered sugar on top of and in the middle of vanilla cake with fresh strawberry slices.
