Nielsen-Massey Vanilla Sampler Giveaway
Nielsen-Massey vanilla is the creme de la creme of vanilla. I’ve used it in the past and recently received samples of three products, and just like my memories, they are of the utmost and highest quality.
Nielsen-Massey vanilla products are flavorful, intense, smooth, and it’s the vanilla end-all-and-be-all. When I don’t make my own Homemade Vanilla Extract, I love using this vanilla.
“At Nielsen-Massey Vanillas, we’ve been crafting vanilla products for over a century, so we understand that vanilla tastes best when its natural essence is allowed to shine. That’s why in producing our vanilla extracts, we use a proprietary cold extraction process instead of heat extraction.
This process gently extracts vanilla’s essential oils, preserving the more than 300 distinctive flavor compounds present in the beans. By protecting our vanilla from heat, we ensure that even its subtlest flavors survive extraction. Cold extraction is a more delicate, longer process that takes weeks instead of days, but we care too much about producing the finest flavor to risk losing any of the complexity and robustness of the original bean.
Our passion further extends to the bean itself. We examine all our vanilla–bundle by bundle, bean by bean–to ensure each bean meets our high standards. Be assured, if the bean is not premium quality, we will not use it.
We’ve also made the very specific choice to only use beans from the finest growing regions: Madagascar, Mexico and Tahiti. And to showcase the unique flavor profiles of vanillas grown in different regions, we offer origin specific vanilla extracts from Madagascar, Mexico and Tahiti.”
The winner of this giveaway will win the following three items:
Taking premium, hand-selected beans cultivated on the Bourbon Island of Madagascar, we use our proprietary cold extraction process to gently draw out and preserve the vanilla’s over 300 flavor compounds. The result is a sweet, creamy, mellow flavor with velvety after-tones, perfect for cooking and baking both sweet and savory dishes. An exceptional “all-purpose” vanilla. One tablespoon of vanilla extract is equivalent to one vanilla bean.
We craft our Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste using our famous Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract and real seeds from the vanilla pod. Due to its thick consistency, similar to molasses, this culinary paste enables you to add more delicious vanilla flavor without thinning out your batters or sauces. It’s also ideal for recipes, such as crème brûlée and ice cream, in which you want to add the enticing visual flair of vanilla seeds.
To replace vanilla extract in a recipe, simply measure the same amount of our Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Bean Paste and add. Or, replace one tablespoon of paste for every one whole vanilla bean.
Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Sugar is a flavorful blend of gourmet baker’s sugar and the pinnacle of all vanillas, Madagascar Bourbon Pure Vanilla Extract. Use it in any recipe where vanilla and the sweetness of sugar are desired. Vanilla Sugar is ideal for baked goods such as cookies, cakes, pies and pastries where it can enhance the vanilla flavor, sprinkled in beverages, such as coffee, cocoas or smoothies, or as a sweet topping to pancakes, fruit or cookies.
I am a huge vanilla fan, always use extra, and some of my favorite vanilla-based recipes follow:
Homemade Vanilla Extract – Making your own vanilla saves money, is mindlessly easy, and you can keep the vanilla extract-brewing cycle going by topping off your brewing jar as vanilla is used, and from time to time swapping out the old beans for new to keep the extract flavorful. The used beans can be placed in a container of sugar for DIY Vanilla Sugar
Homemade Vanilla Extract makes for a thoughtful gift that everyone uses, that costs you very little in terms of money on an ounce-for-ounce, gift-for-gift basis, and is virtually effortless on your part. My kind of gift.
Sugar-Doodle Vanilla Cookies – A new favorite cookie that’s soft, chewy, and combines my love of sugar cookies, snickerdoodles, and vanilla all in one easy small-batch recipe
Baked Vanilla Donuts with Vanilla Glaze – Vanilla is used twice, both in the donuts and in the glaze, and if you’ve never made donuts before they’re extremely easy and fast. The batter can be baked as muffins rather than donuts if you don’t have a donut pan
Puffy Vanilla and Peanut Butter Chip Cookies – These puffy, easy, peanut buttery cookies are intensely vanilla-flavored, just the way I like things
Banana Bread with Vanilla Browned Butter Glaze – I used vanilla four ways, yes four, in this bread. No mixer is required, just one bowl, and it’s my favorite banana bread recipe of all time. It’s the jumping off recipe for all other banana-based bread and cake recipes I make
Caramel and Chocolate Gooey Bars (GF with Vegan adaptation) – I use vanilla twice when making these gooey, rich, easy bars. Full of caramel, chocolate, chewy oats, and vanilla. Keep the napkins handy
Homemade Peanut Butter (vegan, GF) – I add a heavy-handed stream of vanilla extract to my homemade peanut butter, which takes just 5 minutes to make. Homemade peanut butter, like vanilla, is another thing that once you start making it on your own, you’ll wonder why you haven’t been doing this your whole life because it’s so easy and ridiculously good
No-Bake Vanilla Cake Batter Truffles – Vanilla cake batter and vanilla extract are used in these rich and easy truffles, perfect this time of year to make and set out on holiday platters or give as gifts
Spiced Apple and Banana Bundt Cake with Vanilla Caramel Glaze – This is my favorite frosting of all time. It’s caramely, rich, and has an incredible depth of flavor and vanilla plays a starring role in it. The cake is good, but the vanilla-caramel glaze is heavenly
