Protein plays a number of different roles in the body. It repairs body cells, builds and repairs muscles and bones, provides a source of energy, and controls many of the important processes in the body related to metabolism.

Incorporating protein into my daily diet doesn’t always come easy. I don’t eat animal flesh. No meat, fish, chicken, and although I do bake with eggs, I never sit down to a plate eggs and the same can be said for milk. I bake with milk and cream, but don’t drink much milk.

pureprotein-6

That’s where protein supplements come in handy. Although protein from food sources is ideal, sometimes I need a boost and Pure Protein products are one way I can quickly and easily incorporate protein into my everyday lifestyle.

My favorite protein rich snack is cottage cheese! You can mix in savory or sweet toppings depending on your mood. I mix in cocoa powder and stevia a lot. May sound bizarre but I promise it is delicious!

I try to make sure I do get in protein with each meal and snack. I do try to go as plant-based as possible. But also use a rice protein powder that I found and love (also has spirulina in it)

I find ways to up my protein intake everyday — in the morning, I mix together 1/4 cup oats, 1/2 scoop of protein powder, 1/2 cup water, 1 egg white, and a half of a banana. Microwave on high for 3 minutes, stir, and add skim milk and honey to taste! You end up with about 1/2 carbs, 1/2 protein in terms of nutrition. Delicious! I also make a killer Peanut Butter Banana Protein Shake — Place 8 or so ice cubes, 1 cup water, 1/2 cup skim milk, 1 medium banana, 1-2 scoops protein powder, 2 tablespoons of PB2, and a tsp or so of vanilla extract in a blender and blend until smooth. Amazingggg, I promise!
