Breakfast for Dinner: Recipes for Frittata Florentine, Huevos Rancheros, Sunny-Side-Up Burgers, and More! by Lindsay Landis and Taylor Hackbarth is the best novel I’ve read in awhile.

Lindsay blogs at Love and Olive Oil and between her blog, design business, and her first book The Cookie Dough Lover’s Cookbook: Cookies, Cakes, Candies, and More was released summer 2012. Meaning, she’s released two cookbooks in 7 months, on top of everything else she does. I think she sleeps less than I do.

In Breakfast for Dinner, Lindsay and her husband, Taylor, teamed up and co-wrote and photographed the book, and it’s truly gorgeous – both the recipes and the photography.

There are more than 100 classic breakfast recipes made with a twist. Enjoy hearty “brinner” dishes like Bacon Fried Rice, Breakfast Ravioli, Pizza over Easy, and Cornmeal Pancakes with Beer-Braised Short Ribs, plus such sweet treats as Sunrise Margaritas and Maple Bacon Cupcakes—to name just a few. This cookbook is a breakfast lover’s dream come true.

So far I’ve only tried the Chocolate Brownie Waffles and they were rich, super chocolaty, scrumptious, and were like eating dessert for breakfast. Or for dinner.

I started buying cookbooks as a teenager, way before I ever started cooking and baking, just so I could drool over the photos and pore over the recipes.

  9. I sometimes think we eat brinner more than dinner. On a tough day though it is always nice to pull one of these out of the freezer! This is the best frozen cheese souffle you’ll ever eat. This and caramelized pepper bacon will keep me satisfied for a long time!

    I love any kind of breakfast for dinner, but mostly breakfast burritos with veggies, eggs and chorizo! Or perfectly good hashbrowns, sauteed mushrooms and onions, with over easy eggs!!! Mmmm…. I’m hungry

  16. One of my favorite restaurants back home makes a Caprese Benedict. Since they don’t share the recipe, I improvise with this recipe as a base and add pesto to the hollandaise.

  17. I love to make frittatas for brinner! A few eggs, plenty of leftover veggies, odds and ends from the fridge. The best!

    Spanish tortilla is one sophisticated version – cooked potatoes, peppers, fresh herbs, whatever ya got. Mix up with some eggs and bake it up all pretty. Yum!

    Fantastic with leftover or freshly cooked sweet potatoes and some chopped oregano, plus the potatoes, onions, peppers, and parsley this recipe calls for. Great with or without the Serrano ham.

  28. Mini frittatas (I use my muffin tin). it’s a great way to clean out the fridge of leftover cheeses and veggies and tastes great!
