Chocolate Pairings and Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate Giveaway

Ghirardelli’s Intense Dark Chocolate Bars are the ultimate indulgence.

I’ll never say no to chocolate on its own, but when it’s paired with other complementary foods and drinks, it can be even better.

chocolate

Some of my perfect pairings with Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate include nuts, dried fruit, and trail mix.

And a little red wine never hurt.

chocolate

Ghirardelli Intense Dark Chocolate is premium, intense, slow-melting dark chocolate with complex flavors. There’s 8 flavors to enjoy:

• 72% Twilight Delight
• Sea Salt Soiree
• 86% Midnight Reverie
• 60% Cacao Evening Dream
• Cabernet Matinee
• Hazelnut Heaven
• Toffee Interlude
• Cherry Tango

I like pairing chocolate with nuts because you get smooth, creamy, and slightly sweet with crunchy and slightly salty.

chocolate

I’m a big fan of salty-and-sweet pairings.

One brings out and accentuates the other, which is why a pinch of salt in dessert recipes can go a long way in rounding out and maximizing all the flavors present.

chocolate

And I love bite-sized, snacky foods, like trail mix and yogurt-covered pretzels paired with chocolate.

Crunchy, munchy, with melt-in-your mouth and oh so good.

chocolate

Dried fruit is excellent with chocolate. The chewiness and sweetness of the fruit is in contrast to the sleekness and refined bitterness of dark chocolate. Dried cranberries, raisins, dried apricots, blueberries, or strawberries are some of my favorites.

Medjool dates truly are nature’s candy and when stuffed with a dollop of peanut butter and a hunk of chocolate, I can’t resist .

chocolate

It’s such a simple snack that has so much going on in one bite. Chewy, dense, creamy, salty-and-sweet, rich and so satisfying.

I eat these before a run, after yoga, before dinner, or as a midnight snack. I pack them in lunches and they’re one of our favorite chocolate pairings.

chocolate

But perhaps my favorite chocolate pairing is a glass of wine after a long day and a nibble of chocolate.

The simple things are usually the best.

Um more chocolate? A lot of times I have white chocolate with my dark chocolate, and I must admit, I love the eating the cabernet bar with the toffee bar. However chocolate makes me thirsty, so usually fruit (apples, raspberries, strawberries) is a perfect match with dark chocolate.

I would enjoy the Twilight Delight with warm black tea as Chiradelli suggests … but even more importantly I would combine it all with a warm blanket and a good book on a chilly evening!
