10 Bars Craft Chocolate Giveaway ($100 Value)

In honor of National Chocolate Day coming up on October 28, I’m getting you ready for the holiday.

With 10 bars of chocolate from Bar & Bean who specializes in artisan, or craft chocolate.

 Craft chocolate facts:

  • The FDA only requires that milk chocolate only needs to contain 10% actual chocolate in order to be called “chocolate”. All artisan/craft makers exceed these standards by a long shot!
  • Craft chocolate is much more time consuming and labor intensive to make than chocolate sold in grocery stores.  From the source of the chocolate, the beans, to how the product is actually made, every step is intentional and has its place in the process.
  • It’s not uncommon for artisan chocolate makers to pay 2-3 times above fair trade prices for the beans they use to produce their chocolate.  This shows just how much they care about the quality of their product. Each bar is a true representation of who they are as individuals and a brand as a whole.
  • Craft chocolate is more about listening to cacao, respecting cacao, and using the skills and resources to bring out the flavors instead of masking them with sugar and pure sweetness.
There are 10 bars from 9 different origins. Truly a global set!
(1)  Ritual Chocolate – Costa Rica 75%
(2)  Dandelion – Pantenamo, Venezuela 70%

  13. My favorite chocolate is dark chocolate- BUT I also love white chocolate! My favorite recipe that I use chocolate in would be white chocolate pound cake with white chocolate buttercream frosting. It is actually a wedding cake recipe I found in the 90’s in a baking magazine, it had milk and white chocolate layers and buttercream, but I and everyone who has eaten love the white chocolate! I think white chocolate is technically not actually chocolate- but man, is it good. For dark chocolate- I love it with adventuresome flavors!

  14. It’s kind of silly, but I love Toll House morsels. I can sit and be happy just eating handfuls of the stuff. What I really love to do, though, is make hot chocolate with them. Can’t wait for the first real Fall chill to snuggle down with a cup :)

  15. My fave is dark chocolate – it’s too hard to pick a favorite recipe!

  16. The chocolate pancakes with salted caramel sauce look AMAZING!!!!!!!

  17. I’ll admit, I’m a milk chocolate girl. It may be because when I was growing up, I was allergic to chocolate. Two M&Ms would make me break out in hives. I could eat white chocolate, though, because it only contains cocoa butter and no cocoa solids, which is apparently what I was allergic to. Even though I outgrew my chocolate allergy (thank god!), I think I’m just partial to the sweetness of milk now.

And my favorite chocolate recipe is this one for gluten free brownies. I found it while looking for somethign to bake for a friend with celiac’s disease, and I will never use another recipe becuase they are so good!
