Champagne Happy Hour Pictures, Selling Things, Connecting to Holidays
Happy Fourth of July to all who are celebrating! I hope you’re all having a wonderful, fun, and safe holiday weekend! I have had a nice weekend with Scott and Skylar. Scott has got to get back to the grind tomorrow and so it was nice to have our weekend, even if it’s not a 3-day weekend. Today we power walked through Balboa Park and then I hit the gym to lift, the grocery store, and the Farmer’s Market.
I’ll post the loot I scored in an upcoming post. Suffice to say I am happy now that my produce stash is replenished!
Last night I did something for 90 minutes that I haven’t done in 5 years: I went out with a girlfriend and had a drink! It was great! In the honor of keeping things light for the holiday, I’m posting my pictures from my time out with Amber and saving the
boring stuff food recipes for tomorrow.
Last night as I was leaving the house, the smoke detector started going off. It must have sensed how hot I was looking, ya know, with air dried hair that hadn’t been washed and no make-up except for lip gloss. Life of a
gym rat mom, no time for this stuff. And I am sporting my $9 Forever 21 tshirt from this shopping post from earlier in the week.
Seriously, the smoke detector randomly started running out of battery life and was making the most horrendous beeping sound. I had to climb up on a step ladder and fiddle around with batteries while it was blaring in my ears. Fun!
Amber was already waiting for me and was taking advantage of the $4.50 Champagne Happy Hour specials! She’s a power drinker. God, I love her!
Reminds me I need to make my Peanut Butter Coconut Oil Popcorn
At the bar, I decided on a Pomegranate Champagne Cocktail with a Blackberry floating in it. So good.
Amber decided to try:
Lychee Fruit Champagne
Kir Royal wth Raspberry Syrup Champagne
And the 2nd Champagne I ordered but decided I would give to her instead, another Pomegranate Champagne.
Here was some food the chef sent out to us. But we weren’t there for the food, clearly.
And here were our accessories. Amber has the matching Red Shoes on. The life and spending habits of a childless woman. Oh, I remember those days fondly.
It was amazing seeing Amber! No shenanigans like back molestation to report. Just good conversation and it reminded me of old times and I can’t wait to do it again!
And for the record, I am now a total lightweight and 1 glass of champagne had me a little buzzed for an hour. But I walked home, all 44 seconds it took me. And on the way home, I stopped in a mini mart and got a 9 volt battery for the smoke detector and came home and changed that. How many blonds does it take to change a smoke detector? Just one, who’s had some champagne.
I’m glad you guys appreciated my kombucha finished product report!
I know some of you think it’s gross, or you’re skeeved out by it. Honestly, it’s not that big of a deal. You brew tea, throw the Scoby in, wait a week, and kombucha’s ready + 2 Scoby’s. And you repeat the process. And pretty soon, if all goes well, you’ll have enough kombucha and Scoby Babies to give away to all your friends!
And I am glad you appreciated my Cookbook Review
Dessert: How about some Raw Vegan Peanut Butter Cups?

1. Best Thing You’ve Ate or Done this Weekend?
Me = My time out with Amber!
2. Are you going to see Fireworks tonight or was your area putting them on on Saturday night?
Me = I will be standing on my balcony and will likely be able to see a few shows. If you missed my thoughts on Fireworks, you’ll know why I won’t be driving around and looking for parking and going out of my way for them.
3. If you see change on the ground, do you stop and pick it up?
I frequently see all kinds of change laying on the ground when I am running or walking around my neighborhood and I would pick up a quarter but usually not anything less. Not worth the germs on my hands for a penny or a nickle. And dimes are a case by case basis. haha!
4. Can you sell things? Ever sold anything?
I love selling things. I would love to sell high end, luxury automobiles or high end jewelry, fine wine and liquor, memberships to health clubs or country clubs or exclusive clubs. Pretty much anything where I could get a good banter and rapport going and make sure everyone has fun. After all, sales has more to do the relationships and rapport-building than it does with “salesmanship” or even the product/service being sold. Some people cringe at the thought of selling things but I like it! I used to sell timeshare, real estate, eyeglasses, overnight transportation, you name it, I can sell it. How about you?
5. With holidays, do you connect with the deeper meaning and reason for the holiday or do you just gloss over that and see it as an excuse for a long weekend or a good time out with friends and family?
I’m probably more of the second camp, I admit. Independence. Oh yes, 234 years ago that happened. But, I sincerely thank those who are serving our country and who are continuing to fight for our freedoms and independence!
With religious holidays like Christmas and Easter I do have a better connection to those but I do want to be more mindful of the reasons for holidays, why we are celebrating them, and to pass that onto Skylar and not get caught up in the commercialization, if you will, of holidays.
Do you connect with the reasons behind holidays or not so much?
I hope everyone has had a fabulous weekend, holidays or not! And also a quick shout to new readers and new commenters. Thank you all for saying hi! I love hearing from all my new readers and friends! Have fun at the fireworks tonight if you’re going!
