  43. My favorite beverage outside of water is either sweet ice tea or lemonade. I’m from the south so mine is probably a little more sweet than most East and West coasters would prefer. As for the recipe, for the lemonade I use a simple syrup by melting the 1to 1 1/2 c sugar in 1c water and letting it cool. Then I just add about a cup and a half of fresh lemon juice and 6c of cold water. When I really want to get “wild” I add mashed fresh or thawed strawberries and let them sit in the lemon juice for about an hour in the fridge, strain and WALA strawberry lemonade. I sometimes use half lemons half limes. The combination is endless. :O)

  44. crystal light lemon iced tea, yummy… or piping hot coffee w/ a splash of almond joy cremer.

  45. Peach ice tea “crystal lite”

  46. I looove English Breakfast Tea from Trader Joe’s

  47. My favorite is fresh apple cider.

  48. Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice.

  49. I make a morning drink that is the best thing I have ever simply dreamed up out of my own head. It contains the usual suspects – juice, plain no-fat yogurt, frozen fruit or not frozen fruit (makes no difference), ice (yes! I love it cold-cold-cold), a tiny dusting of ground flax seed (really truly trust me, it is best to always err on the side of subtlety with that stuff); but my own brilliant (even if I do say so myself) addition is about ½ a cup of stone cold cooked oatmeal.

It makes the thing very creamy and ice-cream-milk-shake-like without actually being any such thing. This innovation was hatched in early motherhood when I lived off of child leftovers of burn toast crusts, partial glasses of juice and cold oatmeal; a foodstuff so vile that only a mother would dream of eating it and not throwing it away. One day I just dumped the oatmeal in the blender with some yogurt and the juice thinking ‘What the heck they put guar gum in ice cream to make it smooth, how bad could this be?’

The truth is that it is awesome, and now upon waking I make a small amount of quick-cooking oatmeal in a pyrex measuring cup every single day – pouring boiling water over it at the same time that I am making my coffee and letting it get gummy and cold while I putter (imagine!).

The drink has become The Drink and both me and my step son drink one every day. As I am blessed with a seemingly never ending source of solid masses of frozen mango from the Dominican Republic and Boreal Blueberries from Trade Joe’s that is my combination of choice. The boy likes banana strawberry.
