Kelp Noodles

How’s Sunday treating you so far?  Any football fans in the house?   The reason I love football is it’s an excuse to hit up the malls and they’re usually less crowded.  So yeah, I’m a fan, of sorts.

Anyway, muchas gracias on my dessert & sweet treat recap post from yesterday.  Glad you enjoyed it and that it jogged the ole’ memory banks of just how many ways you can make some yumminess.   Raw and vegan not withstanding.  Whenever I tell people I am high raw and vegan, gluten & soy free too, they look at me like I must live on carrot sticks.  Clearly, they haven’t seen my epic dessert posts!

Onto a Gena inspired meal….Kelp Noodles.  Gena mentioned the Sea Tangle Brand in this post.  I found them at my local WF.

Super easy to prepare:  Crack the package open, dice up a few other veggies like zukes & cukes, carrots, red & yellow pepps…

Bonus, I got another meal outta that one little package.  This one was lettuce & kelp noods, tomatoes, yellow pepps, carrots, tossed with balsalmic, EVOO, maple syrup, and black pepper.

The verdict?  Really good, neutral tasting, and would be excellent as a filler in a collard wrap or a raw cuke wrap.

You know those thin little Asian noodles that are often in fresh (not fried) veggie spring rolls? The kelp noodles remind me of those and they’d be great in a wrap.

But I have to say, I still love my Zuke Noodle Creations doused in Peanut SauceZucchinis are readily available, a bit more hearty, and I think I like the texture better.  That’s not discounting the kelp noodles, but kelp and zuke noods are just different animals vegetables and I guess you probably can’t really compare.

Just like it’s hard to pick whether you wanna kelp or zuke noodles?  Well, for dessert it was hard to decide whether I should finish up the Vegan Blondie Macaroons or whether or I should work on the Raw Vegan Cheesecake.  It was a tough call…

So rather than tax my decision-making abillities, I just got to work on both.  Yummmmm.

And also for dessert, I nibbled on one of the Maple Flax Pancake-Cookies too.  It was a smorgy-board kinda night.  And a good one at that!

  1. You deserve 1 million awards for your delicious-looking food, your sweetness, and, well, just for being you!

  2. Okay, I have a big ass bag of apples I just got. All I'm missing are the dates and almond meal. The apple crumble just looks soooo delicious. It's popping out of the screen girl! haha :)

Hmm… I guess right before I'm like ehhh this is kind of a waste – because I only get a trim and since I have long hair it costs more. But then they start shampooing my hair and that alone is worth it lol. but I pamper myself mostly by turning off all distractions and drinking a cup of Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie tea. Or something comforting like that :) Hot chocolate too

  3. Love the apple dish! I actually made your raw cheesecake last night, should be up on the blog later today…I even brough a little to work today and I keep hearing it call my name!

I am not a huge salon person. I can't justify it. My hair is long and straight. And although there greys are creeping in, I just dye it dark brown which is so much cheaper to do myself. Now, as me about pedis? I am all over that as often as I can!

  4. You know I am eyeing those apple recipes!! Although, I have been going through my 15lbs of them very quickly by just eating them! :)

Pics of the new hair-do please? ;)

  5. Averie, I totally hear ya on the hair thing. When I moved I was totally stressed out about finding a new stylist, it's so nervewracking because it's so expensive! You don't want to just settle for anyone. lol. Again, the apple crumble looks amazing. Have a super day :)

  6. I get nervous going to a new salon, too, especially since I usually have my sister cut my hair. She just chopped off 5 or 6 inches for me over the weekend. This mommy needed it.

    Congrats on your awards :-)

  7. Oook I like the idea of that crumble. I made a similar one with peaches when they were in season, fro Ani Phyo's free recipes on her site, so reminded me of it. Slurp :) Good luck with the hairdresser too…it is always a gamble when you are trying to find a new one..I hear ya fellow blonde sista

  8. I am so behind with blogs right now! Feeling out of the loop, big time. Crumble looks awesome as usual…ah. Fall. I got some cha-cha-chia! It's an individual portion in a tube that was sent to me (no idea where from) so I need to use it wisely…am thinking pudding! Once I am home :D Woo woo!

I am going to call someone today :)

  9. WHOA! LOVE that yoga move you made…I'm impressed!

And that apple crumble looks AMAZING! I never knew raw food can look so delicious!

  10. What amazing food! You ALWAYS give me the most wonderful ideas, thank you!

Hmmm…about the salon…I haven't been in years! I don't like manis and pedis and I just cut my own hair at home.

  11. I don't know how I feel… getting my hair cut usually ends up being super stressful because I can't seem to find a stylist that I like out here (CA).

    I love getting pedicures though!

  12. Hey Averie, I like to do my nails at home for pamperage, or a face mud mask.

I haven't had a haircut in 6 months so I guess that answers your question about what I feel about salons! Although I am trying to grow it out for my sisters wedding (I'm maid of honour) :)

  13. I just picked a bunch of apples from my mom and now I totally know what I'm going to do with them, make that crumble!!! Yum!

Hmmmm, I wonder what the surprise cookie will be ; )

I just colored my hair a little. It's been two years since I had it colored and I think I should have waited another two. I figure I'll have to color it one day because of gray and I should probably wait until then. I feel guilty for spending over $100 on little ol' me.

  14. scuse me, no photos of the new do? not acceptable! i wanna see!

anywho.. i am off to make some overnight loving.. but had to catch up with my fave vegan yogini first! not going to lie, the chia pudding looks a little bit like it is from space, but i am sure it tastes delish.

and cookie that starts with an S.. i have a feeeeeling :D

    MWAH!

  15. HEY Averie! OHHHH, I almost hit the apple crumble tonight…I did buy more apples but instead I re-made the chocolate chip cookies bc I have oats now. I tweaked it quite a bit still (still no dates) but they were peanut/banana/choco love!
    MMM

now I have a nice proper batch of MMM chocolaty YUM

I RARELY treat myself to even a hair cut, so for me it's a total (stressful) treat!

    good for you!
