Vegan a la Mode Cookbook Giveaway

I recently received Hannah Kaminsky of Bittersweet’s latest book, Vegan a la Mode: More Than 100 Frozen Treats for Every Day of the Year (published by Skyhorse Publishing)

Hannah Kaminsky has developed an international following for her delicious vegan recipes and mouthwatering food photography at bittersweetblog.com

Now, she shares some of her newest ice cream, frozen yogurt, and sorbet recipes. This is a cookbook that any dessert lover will enjoy and all the recipes are vegan and completely cholesterol-free. No eggs or cream are necessary to create rich, delicious, and scrumptious cold treats.

Learn how to make everything from simply delicious French Vanilla to seriously decadent Peanut Butter Bombshell, and many others, including:
· Birthday Cake Ice Cream
· Super-Simple Chocolate Kefir Ice Cream
· Chocolate-Cabernet Ice Cream
· Turkish Coffee Ice Cream
· Pistachio Praline Ice Cream
· Blueberry-Balsamic Ice Cream
· Mango Colada Ice Cream
· Rose Petal Ice Cream
· And many more!

There’s also a section on toppings so you can make your own vegan sprinkles, caramel sauce, and hot fudge.

This is not Hannah’s first book, she’s also written Vegan Desserts

And My Sweet Vegan

And she’s written many e-books.

Not bad for a college sophomore. Wow!

When I talk to Hannah, I am constantly impressed by her kindness and generosity of spirit. She is such a sweet person – just a total doll!

And when I go to her blog or her professional photography website (she shoots her own photography for her books, which is all simply stunning), I am always blown away by her extremely creative recipes and gorgeous photos, including:

Ice Cream Alfajores with Dulce de Coco Ice Cream and Shortbread Cookies

Pumpkin Pie Ice Cream

Purple Cow Ice Cream

Saffron Cashew Ice Cream

All-time favorite flavor is Ben & Jerry’s Mint Chocolate cookie. I know, dairy! And so fattening and such but SOOO good! I’ve made homemade vegan almond milk ice cream and it’s super good too, though!

Whaaaat? How are we supposed to choose a favourite ice cream?
I’ve been experimenting with Chocolate Covere Katie’s voluminous ice cream recently, trying to get it just right (it’s essentially frozen soy milk)… And I don’t think there is a flavour that I don’t like!

Forbidden chocolate by Friendly’s and a very close second is Cherry Garcia by Ben and Jerry’s. Yum! But being lactose intolerant makes it very hard to eat much. So this cookbook would be a great help esp. on my tummy!

My dad used to make the most awesome homemade strawberry ice cream.

I’ve been dying to get an ice cream maker… this book would force me to do that haha. I think the first thing I would make is an oatmeal chocolate chunk cookie kind of recipe. Yuuuum.

Oh, these photos look so good, I could eat this screen right up! Not to toot my own horn, but my favorite ice cream is the cookie butter swirl and chunk cinnamon ice cream I made recently (some commercial chain has GOT to get on this bandwagon–otherwise I might have to sell it myself!).http://wallflourgirl.wordpress.com/2012/08/02/frozen-treats-galore-cookie-butter-chunk-n-swirl-cinnamon-ice-cream-coffee-dark-chocolate-chunk-ice-cream-and-ice-cream-sammy-bon-bons-a-k-a-national-eat-dessert-first-month-day-2-theme-post/

I WISH I could say I’ve made homemade ice cream! I don’t have an ice cream maker and it looks like many of the recipes out there require that. I do make frozen banana softserve on a semi-regular basis though, and love this cookie dough recipe:

Ooooh I love simple fruit sorbets best of all! The standard frozen banana soft serve is great, especially with a splash of almond and/or vanilla extract, but I made the BEST variation in my brand new ice cream maker! Frozen banana chunks, blueberries, blended up in the food processor with a little vanilla. Simple soft serve. But now, put THAT in the ice cream maker and churn it into a light, easy to scoop, amazing awesomeness! Enjoy as is, with simple raw chocolate sauce, or in an easy ice cream sandwich with simple raw cookies made from almonds, dates, and optional cacao or ginger and cinnamon. My new absolutely favorite thing ever. I ate the whole batch myself!
