Ingredients
1ounceamaretto liqueur
1ouncespiced rum
6ounceseggnogchilled
Optional: whipped cream or whipped toppingcinnamon sticks or ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, , for garnishing
Instructions
To an 8 ounce rocks glass or similar glass, add one ounce each of the amaretto and the spiced rum, and stir to combine. If you like very chilled drinks, add ice as desired.
Top with eggnog, stir to combine, taste, and make any necessary flavor adjustments. Tips - See the FAQ section in the blog post for various substitutions and options. If you like a sweeter drink, add an extra 1/2-ounce amaretto. If you like a bolder spiced drink, add an extra 1/2-ounce spiced rum.
Optionally, and as desired, top with whipped topping, cinnamon, or nutmeg, if desired and to taste. Serve immediately. Leftover eggnog will keep airtight in the fridge for up to 2 days. The alcohol helps preserve it, but the dairy ingredients can spoil quickly, especially if it was sitting out at a party beforehand.
Make Ahead: You can make a pitcher of spiked eggnog up to about 24 hours in advance if you're planning on serving it for a party and want to just get this task knocked out and done. You can also do this in a pitcher or punch bowl, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and stir very well before serving.
How To Make a Pitcher or Batch: Pour off some eggnog from the carton into a glass, then add the appropriate number of ounces of each alcohol to the plastic jug or carton, seal, and refrigerate. Make sure to shake very well to re-combine any separated ingredients before serving. Measuring Tip - If you're using a 1/2 gallon container or jug of eggnog, I would pour off 8 to 10 ounces of the eggnog, and then add 4 to 5 ounces each of amaretto and spiced rum, seal, shake, taste, adjust if necessary, and serve.
