Whether you want to surprise someone special with these as dessert after a romantic dinner or serve them with wine and a cheese board at a “Gal-entine’s Day” celebration with your girlfriends, they work equally well in both places.

I used Fisher Whole Natural Almonds. Fisher Nuts are preservative free and non-GMO Project Verified. The almonds are coated in dark chocolate. I like dark chocolate bars for melting purposes in this situation rather than chocolate chips which have stabilizers in them and can be resistant to melting.

But if chips are all you have, they should be fine as long as you take your time melting them.

I went a little crazy with Valentine’s sprinkles and I love salty-and-sweet things and added a pinch of sea salt flakes to the top of each cluster but it’s optional.

The dark chocolate really pops when there’s a hint of salt.

Valentine Chocolate Almond Clusters

Homemade always tastes better and these are easy, no-bake, and ready in about 15 minutes. The almonds are coated in dark chocolate. I like dark chocolate bars for melting purposes in this situation rather than chocolate chips.I went a little crazy with Valentine's sprinkles and I love salty-and-sweet things and added a pinch of sea salt flakes to the top of each cluster but it's optional.

Yield: 12 clusters (recipe can easily be scaled up)

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 0 minutes

Total Time: about 15 minutes, for setting up

Ingredients:

  • 6 ounces dark chocolate (I recommend a bar rather than chocolate chips if possible), coarsely chopped and melted
  • 1 cup Fisher Whole Natural Almonds
  • sprinkles, to taste
  • sea salt flakes, optional and to taste

Directions:

  1. To a medium microwave-safe bowl, add the chocolate and heat on high power to melt, about 90 seconds total, stopping every 15 seconds to check and stir.
  2. After chocolate can be stirred smooth, add the almonds and stir to coat.
  3. To a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, drop almonds into about 12 evenly-sized small clusters.
  4. Evenly top with sprinkles and optional sea salt, to taste.
  5. Place baking sheet in the fridge or freezer to set up, or they will set up in a few hours at room temp. Clusters will keep airtight at room temp for up to 2 weeks, in the fridge for up to 1 month, and in the freezer for up to 4 months. Bring to room temp before serving.

  1. I love a little coarse sea salt with dark chocolate. I usually make pb cups or buckeyes when I ‘m in the mood for homemade candy–these would be a little change up and fun to make!

  4. These look delicious! I will definitely be making them. Love, love the chocolate and almond combo…and the addition of sea salt and sprinkles takes it up another notch. :) Yum! I made similar candy at Christmas, but it was a combination of milk, dark, and white chocolate with peanuts. It was good, but turned white/grey after not too long at room temp. What brand chocolate do you use for your candy? I use the a Trader Joe’s bar when I make your French Silk pie…would you recommend that? Thanks!

    • That can sometimes happen with chocolate that it turns white-ish when it dries. Are used Trader Joe’s for these and it’s not necessarily perfect, but better than most. Candy melts such as those made by Wilton may prevent it but I can’t say for sure.
