5-Minute Dill Pickle Chex Mix - Pickle lovers get ready for this ADDICTIVELY amazing Chex Mix!! Robustly flavored with ranch seasoning, dill, and pickle juice! Fast, EASY, and a perfect party snack!!

The BEST Chex Mix Recipe

This is the Chex mix recipe to beat all. I’ve never met a Chex mix, snack mix, or muddy buddy recipe that I didn’t love and this one is no exception. I think this is going to be one of those recipes people are going to either love and go nuts for or just not get it at all.

We’re big pickle fanatics and loved this homemade Chex mix that’s loaded with bold dill flavor. I used two full tablespoons of dried dill, which is a lot of dill, but the recipe does make a huge batch…that we devoured much faster than I would like to admit.

When it comes to spices and seasonings, I’m not shy and would rather something be distinctively and robustly flavored than wimpy and wishy-washy. You can always start with one tablespoon dried dill and add more to taste if you’re not a dill die-hard.

There’s also dill pickle juice in this easy, no-bake (just 5 minutes in the microwave) recipe that’s perfect for parties. You can’t have dill pickle Chex mix without dill pickle juice! It’s sharp, tart, and has a perfect amount of bite.

Additional flavoring comes from a packet of dry ranch seasoning and salad dressing mix. It has plenty of garlic and salt to help make this mix made with two types of Chex, pretzels, and crushed pita chips totally addictive. If you like salt-and-vinegar or dill potato chips, you’re going to absolutely adore this.

What’s in This Chex Mix Recipe?

To make this homemade Chex mix recipe, you’ll need:

How to Make Chex Mix

Stir together the corn Chex, rice Chex, pretzels, pita chips. In a separate bowl, whisk together the oil, pickle juice, and dried dill.

Pour the wet mixture over the dry and stir to combine. Sprinkle on the ranch seasoning and stir again.

Cook for 5 minutes in the microwave, stopping every minute to stir the mixture. After 5 minutes is up, spread the homemade Chex mix over a large baking sheet to cool. My mixture was quite dry after the five 1-minute cycles in the microwave, but if yours isn’t, it will dry out as time passes if exposed to air.

How Long Does Homemade Chex Mix Last?

This dill pickle Chex mic will keep for up to 1 week in an airtight container.

Can I Make Chex Mix in the Oven?

Most likely, yes. But it’s hard to say because I’ve only made this Chex mix recipe in the microwave. I would try maybe a 325ºF oven for about 15-20 minutes, stirring multiple times throughout, but this is just guessing on my part.

Serving Ideas for the Best Dill Pickle Chex Mix

Because this Chex mix recipe can be made up to a week in advance, it’s great to prep before a party such as a summer barbecue, game days, tailgating parties, or any time you need a great snack!

Pour it in a big bowl and watch every gravitate towards it. If you have extra, give it away in sandwich sized snack bags. I guarantee everyone will thank you!

Tips for Making the Best Chex Mix

You can easily make this homemade Chex mix gluten-free by using gluten-free pita chips and mini pretzels.

If you want to double this recipe, simply double the ingredients. You may need to cook the Chex mix in two batches to ensure it’s cooked properly in the microwave.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups corn Chex
  • 4 cups rice Chex
  • 2 cups mini pretzels
  • 2 cups pita chips, lightly crushed (bagel chips may be substituted)
  • ½ cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 5 tablespoons dill pickle juice
  • 2 tablespoons dried dill, you can always start with 1 tablespoon and add more to taste
  • one 1-ounce packet dry ranch seasoning and salad dressing mix

Instructions

  • To a very large microwave-safe bowl, add the corn Chex, rice Chex, pretzels, pita chips (I crush them in my hands), and stir to combine; set aside.
  • To a glass measuring cup or small bowl, add the oil, pickle juice, dried dill, and stir to combine.
  • Evenly pour the wet over the dry ingredients; stir well to combine.
  • Evenly sprinkle the ranch mix; stir well to combine.
  • Cook in the microwave on high power for 5 minutes. Stop every minute to stir well, scraping the sides of the bowl with a spatula if necessary.
  • Turn mixture out onto a large baking sheet to cool. My mixture was quite dry after the five 1-minute cycles in the microwave but if yours isn’t, it will dry out as time passes if exposed to air.

Notes

  • Mix will keep for up to 1 week in an airtight container.

    1. Not really no. It’s the key flavor element of the recipe! You could omit it and see what happens but there’s not really a substitution.

  1. Just tried making a double bath. Was so bland. Going to go back and add some of the usual flavorings with it and see.of that doctors it up.

    1. Wow that’s interesting that you thought it was bland. I thought it was super flavorful from the ranch seasoning mix (that stuff is pretty much of a sodium + garlic + onion bomb to me!) and then the pickle juice and dill seasoning, but we all have different tastes. Thanks for trying the recipe.

  2. OMG this is right up my alley! I am seriously pickle obsessed. And I wish Trader Joe’s would bring back the pickle popcorn!

  3. This is simply genius, with all the pickle mania right now!! Canadians will love it, lol.

    1. I thought she would love it :) I honestly made it right after your shin-dig and had I known how GOOD this stuff turned out, I would have made a batch at your house! Like you don’t even want to make it unless you plan to eat it til it’s gone bc it’s SO GOOD!

  4. If you don’t have a microwave and need to bake it, how would you do that? Can you provide instructions? Thanks!!

    1. It’s hard to say because I’ve only made it in the microwave. I would try maybe a 325F oven for about 15-20 minutes, stirring multiple times throughout, but again this is just guessing on my part.

    1. I just about burnt my house down making this recipe in my microwave! Yikes!!! I did not stir every two minutes and it lit on fire and my whole microwave was filled with smoke. I put it outside thinking it was just smoking, and later found a bowl of red hot coals out on my wooden deck. (I was dumb and should have poured water on it even though it didn’t look on fire or red When I first put it out there). I also have to say the other half of the batch turned out incredibly tasty. I am writing this to warn people to please be careful! Half the batch I put in the oven and it was fine, the other half was in the microwave for 5 minutes like the recipe said. I did not see that I was supposed to stop and stir every 2 minutes. This step is probably very important. I also added some sweet honey Chex, which maybe provided sugars to burn quicker also. Anyways, absolutely delicious otherwise!

      1. Wow I am sorry to hear about your difficulties but two things…yes stirring every minute is very important.

AND the other thing is that the sweet honey Chex is probably what was the real culprit here because honey is so prone to burning. I am glad you were actually still able to salvage some of it and it still tasted absolutely delicious!

  5. This is a great spin on chex mix! I get cravings for dill pickles in the summer so the flavor sounds deliciously addictive.  My sister is really a pickle lover. She used to stick a spoon in the leftover  juice when she was a teenager so I know she would go nuts over this!

    1. My daughter is the same way your sister is! She can literally drink pickle juice…haha! For all the pickle lovers in your life, THIS is the recipe to make! We seriously couldn’t stop eating it!
