Hi Friends!  I hope your week is off to a good start.  I’m still enjoying my “weekend” but am back to work tomorrow.  I had an insanely eventful day yesterday.  I mentioned that Mondays are my busiest day of the week, and by golly, yesterday was no exception.  And I haven’t used the expression “by golly” in about 2 decades..haha!

You may recall that I recently posted about wanting to get a slow/pressure/rice cooker and was wondering what everyone recommended.  The general consensus was that many of you love your slow cookers, but most of you actually prefer your rice cooker to your slow cooker, if you have them both.

I still plan to get a rice cooker, but slow cookers were on sale at Target and for $29 bucks, I couldn’t pass this one up.

I thought about getting a gently used one from Craigslist or a thrift store since there are always an abundance, but the thought of buying someone else’s gluten cross-contamination or traces of their meat-based chili remnants on my machine was no dice.  I happily sprung for the $29 new machine.

Speaking of things you pay for vs. things that you Do It Yourself on,from yesterday’s post, most of you are huge DIY’ers.  Actually, I’d expect nothing less with bloggers and blog readers.   Most of us seem to be pretty ambitious, resourceful types who just take matters into our own hands and get ‘er done.  However, we all admit that some things, you just have to pay for.  The time and energy to shovel snow, sew on buttons, or install new sheetrock just ain’t always happening.

Thanks for the sweater compliments and yes, sometimes the tiniest alterations can make a wonderful difference in whether or not something is going to work out, long term.

I’ve been enjoying some nice salads with my Cesar-Inspired Creamy Vegan Tahini Dressing

Tip of the Day: Buy all your Non-Perishables from a place like iHerb.com

Use code: AVE630 to save $5 off your order.   iHerb.com is already about 30% cheaper than Whole Foods or Health Food Stores, so I highly recommend it for supplements, non-perishable dry goods, and health and beauty products galore.

Online Bulk Purchases are Not to be Confused with Bulk Bins and the Creepy Hazards for me personally, that can be associated with the Bins.  Mold, moths, fun stuff.

Dessert: Raw Vegan Dark Chocolate Fudge Balls
I like to keep these in the freezer and take a few out a few minutes before I plan to eat them.  That way it’s like sinking my teeth into a really dense fudgy treat.   Love them nice and chilled.

Questions
1. What should I make with my Crock Pot?
Many of you chimed in already and a couple friends were kind enough to send me some PDF files of slow cooker recipes, but if you have any tried and true recipes that I just have to make, let me know!  There are zillions online and I’m going into recipe overload!

I would love to find a vegan chili recipe that uses tofu and that it’s no need to brown anything in a skillet first.  I want to dump everything in the pot and have it “make” the tofu chili for me!   Now is that asking too much?    ha!

2. Do you like shopping online?

I just placed an order at iHerb.com that looked very similar to This Order Including 5 pounds of White Stevia for $44 bucks.  Score!

I love shopping online: So much cheaper, I can compare prices at the click of a finger from various vendors, I don’t need to leave my house, I don’t need to find parking or deal with getting a kid in and out of a carseat and crowded parking lots.  Whenever possible, online is the way to go for me.

However, for something like the Crock Pot because it’s heavy, bulky, and the box is big, unless it came with free shipping, that’s the type of thing the shipping charges can kill you so it’s better to buy at a retail store.  I pick and choose with online vs. retail stores but generally speaking, online wins.

3. What have you ordered online lately?
What should I buy next?  Fill me in on your favorites you purchase online.

4. Has it gotten chilly where you live?
It went from 94 and humid last week to low 60, drizzling rain, wind, and a nasty chill in the air.  Not liking this, at all.  I’ll take hot and humid all day long!
