A couple days ago I received a jar of Horseradish Dill Mustard from Foodzie.
This product combines 3 faves of mine:
1. Horseradish: I have a Horseradish Relish Dressing recipe which I use on salads or as a veggie dipper
2. Dill: I have a Vegan Creamy Lemon, Dill & Herb Dressing recipe too that is great on spiralized raw noodles or as a veggie dip
3. Mustard: I use it on everything from salads to crackers to recipes. Recently, I found a certain type of mustard I had been looking for for 10 years.
I went “all out” and used my horseradish dill mustard as a dip for some carrots and broccoli. I love simplicity.
The horseradish has a kick, it’s not overly dill-ey so it doesn’t overpower the other flavors, and has a nice sweetness to it which I loved.
And no added sodium, garlic, or onions = best things ever because I am not a fan of any!
The horseradish won’t last long. In fact, it’s already almost gone. I love horseradish!
In keeping with a condiments theme, let me remind you just how much I adore them with these recipes:
Ketchup & Mustard Lover’s Protein & Veggie Mash
Salsa & Cheezy Baked Beans & Vegetables
Mango Ginger Maple Tofu (with mango ginger chutney, one of the best condiments ever)
From my last post with the No Bake Vanilla Cake Batter Chocolate Truffles, thanks for the high praise! And I am glad there are some cake batter fans in the house, too.
Foodgawker picked up the picture and recipe so that made me really happy and like the hours of cooking, photographing, editing, and posting was all worth it!
Also, I edited the post to include a gluten-free and dairy-free option to the recipe. Read the recipe, at the bottom, if this is of interest to you.
And thanks for letting me know what you’d like to see me make next. I am always open to suggestions!
Dessert: I’ll remind you of last week’s recipe for No Bake Nutter Butter Special K Bars
Questions:
1. Do you like horseradish?
Yes!
2. Do you like condiments? Favorites?
Yes and my faves are: ketchup, mustard, sweet pickle relish, sweet chutneys, and vegan slaw dressing.
Condiments I am just meh about: tahini, hummus (only because beans and I do not get along in any true quantity), bbq sauce/soy sauce (the sodium is a deal breaker), and olives (not sure if they are technically a condiment but I’m not a fan).
3. What kind of horsing around did you do this weekend?
After my fall, I had to take it easy with workouts and just did some gentle walking and stretching. I also worked, spent time in the kitchen, and spent time with Skylar which was awesome.

That mustard sound good! My favourite condiment is probably salad dressing…..
Love all things spicy! Horse radish is on this yummy list!! :)
I’m not into horseradish, I prefer mustard..yummy! your blog always makes me feel hungry =) nice pictures..
The mustard sounds great, I’d probably just use it as a dip too. And so many great recipes here for inspiration.
1. Yes, it has a nice kick.
2. Yes, mustard and creamy vegan sauces made fresh in the Vita-Mix.
3. Not much, it was pretty laid back. I wanted to throw my work laptop out the window, but I didn’t. :-P
You always make everything look so good! Including mustard!
I used to be a condiment addict. I had a fridge full of different sauces. It was a huge problem! It wasn’t until I went gluten free that I really cut back on my condiment usage. (thank goodness) I still LOVE ketchup but started to make my own with tomato paste + raisins + apple cider vinegar. Also, I love sauerkraut but I don’t count that as a condiment because it’s downright fantastic for you! I’m still dreaming of those cake balls… I need to get some GF mix and give it a try.
OOH YES I love horseradish! Esp in bloody marys :)
I love ketchup. People are generally grossed out when they see me eating burgers at restaurants because I totally drown the thing in ketchup. It’s a bad scene! I love mustard too and hummus!
I find horseradish to me too hot for me. My tongue is not very well adapted to spice. I do love mustard though and I find ketchup to be too sweet although I used to LOVE it. In fact I used to love getting the Big Mac sauce at McDonald’s and it was so spicy I’d sweeten it with added ketchup.
I love hummus, (homemade) ranch dressing, mustard, and…that’s pretty much it for condiments. Although I use nut butters like a condiment like they are going out of style ;)
Hi Averie! I just received my FIRST order from iHerb! I used your coupon code and got a great deal on a big container of nutritional yeast (a lovely “condiment” you introduced me to!) Seriously, I sprinkle this on salads, make a creamy sauce with cashews to top steamed broccoli, put it on eggs, it is so versatile and tasty! Thank you!
As for other condiments: I love grainy mustards, like grey poupon. I’ve never tried horseradish. I guess the name kind of makes me wonder….? What’s your favorite way to eat it? And since you confessed your love for Coffee Mate, I must confess mine for VELVEETA! I know is it packed with awful ingredients, but it is SO yummy on steamed broccoli. I only have it once every few months, so I figure it won’t kill me :)
Hope you are healing up from your fall!
I love horseradish(and thank my dad for that) but, don’t hate me, I don’t like mustard! I actually have one kind of mustard I’ll eat and it does taste good, but it’s dill mustard. And I love the dill, but not really the mustard. Lol. I don’t like olives either. I’m not a huge fan of any condiment except maybe bbq sauce sometimes… but I like soy sauce and ketchup and all that. Just not enough to put it on everything. It was so nice and sunny out yesterday(this is a big deal for us, haha) so we got to spend lots of time outside. Nothing too major just pulling weeds and kicking a soccer ball around :D
I like mustard!
I live on onions and garlic and olives (okay, I don’t live on it but I cook with it a lot)
:)
I always leave your blog hungry!
I have to check out this cake batter treat! i LOVE cake batter anything!
xo
I used to be afraid of horseradish because of how strong it can be, but now I love it! And mustard-well I can put it on anything and everything :)
Oh ps I really want to try those cake batter truffles!
I do like horseradish! It’s delicious. I’m not a big condiment person in general, mostly because I forget about them. condiments tend to go bad in my refrigerator. As I’ve been blogging and reading wonderful blogs like yours, I have learned how much condiments can add interest to a meal. Yesterday I had eggs and avocado for breakfast, and I put some salsa on it. I never would have thought to do that before, and it added so much interest!
Yes, horseradish is a must have.
Like other condiments to: Sweet Heat mustard, Ketchup, Salsa, Dijon mustard, Honey mustard, Honey dijon mustard, Stone ground mustard, Sauerkraut, mayo, and BBQ sauce (home made by my husband). Looks like a favour mustards.
Do pickles count as a condiment? If yes, they are my favorite. And hummus. And pesto. And mustard. Okay, maybe I’m just a general toppings fan.
I love condiments! ketchup and mustard are my favorite :D
We have a horseradish mustard that I absolutely love — dip veggies into it, spread on sandwiches, it is delicious.
I do like condiments — ketchup, mustard, hummus, mayo, bbq sauce, all of that is delicious!
Not much horsing around this past weekend, lots of cleaning, errands, etc, nothing too exciting!
I’ll bet that mustard would be delicious in a cheesy cashew sauce.. I love horseradish and mustard .. yum!
I’m such a huge fan of Foodzie–I love it!
I feel like this post was written for me – I’m a condiment junkie! Ketchup is definitely my all time favorite :)
I am not a fan of horseradish at all. Now I love ketchup, mustards, salsas…..yum.
Oooh, I LOVE mustard. Especially fun fancy mustards like this! :-)
i saw it up on food gawker yesterday and was like woohoo!! and that mustard is right up my alley, that flavor combo sounds amazing!
I’m not the biggest fan of horseradish but mustard I loveeeee! This post has me thinking about lunch already :)
Averie! What are you doing to me!
I can’t read this post and look at the pics of all those delicious things while in bed. I just want to get out and open my fridge!
I’m resisting the temptation :)
I’ve never been a huge horseradish fan, especially on its own, but I can’t wait to see what you use it for. I’m sure you’ll have a way of making it delicious! :)
Congrats on making Foodgawker again! You’re doing AMAZING on your photography Averie!
those new scarves are really upping the “va-voom!” of your photos, averie! as a fan of bright colour, i’m loving your pics!! congrats on getting the recipe published – i can see why they jumped on it!
love horseradish, avoid high sodium, don’t like onions.i never thought of just adding some horseradish to mustard…going to try that!
no horsing around for me – i’ll save that for when i’m with my nieces!
I adore condiments!
My favs are ketchup, chutney (any kind), horseradish, BBQ sauce…the list goes on!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE horseradish! I seriously put it in everything – soups and stews, scrambled eggs, dips, sandwiches, there is nothing that it doesn’t taste delicious with.
Your photography is really stunning Averie. You are so talented!
That stuff was practically made for me! Totally going on my list of mustards to re-create right now.
And that mustard ketchup thingie too. That’s what I had for dinner, without really knowing it. I also added salsa and nooch. Clearly, I am a condiment fan.
No horsing around for this worker bee. Soon, though. very soon. I hope.
Favorite condiment? Mustard! I love it. I live dipping raw veggies in it, especially broccoli. And your pictures of the special K bars always make me drool. I need to plan time to make them!
I <3 chutney. enough said. You are making me hungry!
I always get hungry when I come to your bloggie!
I would love to try some of those horseradish dressings and other dips!! They all look delicious!!!
I love love love condiments!! Ketchup, ranch, salsa, guac., pb, mustard, etc. etc. etc.
Adore you!! :)
1. I’ve only had it a few times before and it was on steak. I don’t eat steak anymore so I don’t know if I’d like it on anything else, but I’m generally a pretty big fan of anything spicy so I think I’d like it.
2. I’m not a huge fan. I think it’s because I watched a video on YouTube of this guy who was challenged to drink an entire bottle of ketchup. He didn’t finish it, but it was definitely enough to get me grossed out. I’ll put mustard and ketchup on my veggie dogs and burgs but I don’t really use any other condiments… Unless nut butters (especially chunky peanut butter. It’s gotta be natural though. I used to love the Kraft stuff but now it grosses me out because it’s so full of added fats and sugar. Just let the peanut shine on its own, yo!), virgin coconut oil, EVOO and balsamic vinegar count as condiments. Love those.
3. The closest I got to horsing around this weekend was dancing in my room today. I was by myself, but the music was excellent. Finals are kind of killing me though.
I love horseradish!!! When I was a baby my dad would give me a little on the tip of his finger. I would make a face, and then open up for more!
No added sodium?! Sign me up! I love mustard + horseradish! Sounds yummy.
And yeah, I’m a condiments queen: http://www.j3nn.net/2010/03/11/then-days-went-by/
I love them all! Gimme flavorsssssss :P
I love horseradish! And I love horseradish mustard. Yumm.
I love condiments — mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce. A recent favorite is gojuchang — I got it on bibimbap at a Korean restaurant and it’s amazing. The condiment I do not like is mayonnaise. Never liked it! Blechhh.
Horsing around this weekend — I’ve been working out a lot! Does that count? Because it was fun! =)
