When weather is warm I crave fruit more so than other times of the year.
And it’s plenty warm here in Aruba.
So fruit smoothies have been in full swing.
They’re also easy, fast, plant-based, naturally vegan and gluten free.
And kiddie-approved, too.
She begs me for smoothies. There are far worse things she could beg me for.
This is an easy request:

Peach Banana Colada Smoothie (non-alcoholic)
2 small/medium bananas (previously frozen is ideal but not essential)
1 c peaches (I used canned peaches in light syrup, but fresh would be great)
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 c ice cubes (use your judgment)
1/4 c white sugar (or sweetener to taste such as honey, agave, sugar, stevia, vanilla NuNaturals stevia drops. Some may find sweetener optional but I don’t)
The remainder is optional:
1/4 c milk (nut milk, vanilla flavored nut milk, milk, cream, or peach mango milk)
1/3 c additional fruit (such strawberries, mango, pineapple, plums, nectarines, papaya, honeydew, cantaloupe, etc.)
1/4 c yogurt
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 scoop neutral or vanilla flavored protein powder
top with a handful of granola, nuts, seeds, dried fruit, raisins
For the adults: 1 to 2 ounces rum (dark rum, light rum, Malibu)
Blend everything in Vita-Mix, Magic Bullet, or blender until smooth.
Yields: one hearty portion or two more moderate portions. Or, double the recipe, pour into plastic glasses and freeze, and pull out of the freezer as needed over the next few days to save time.

Add everything to the Magic Bullet. I left the Vita at home. Blend and enjoy!
These have been great in the mornings…
…and also in the afternoons after the beach when we’re hot, tired, need something but don’t want to eat anything too heavy before dinner.
And maybe just maybe Scott and I may have been spiking ours with a little rum. Maybe.
It was awesome reading over the comments on my last post, Local Aruba Sights, about your traveling adventures and whether you like to see the local sights when you travel and just how many “touristy” things you do. Or avoid.
And please keep the comments coming on both the Business Cards Giveaway
And my post on Career Fantasy & Doing What You Want. I love these!
Questions:
1. Do you like pina coladas? Or peach coladas?
Yes, both.
But I like peach pina coladas better.
Something about the peach and the pineapple really hits the spot for me. Vintage pictures, 2009
2. How’s your week going? Anything exciting going on?
Being on vacation has been fabulous for me. It’s given me some time to recharge my batteries and do some major thinking, soul searching, and pondering.
And it also has given me time to take care of some blog housekeeping details. Like, I updated my Beverages/Smoothie Recipes Tab so you an find some recent hits more easily. Thrilling, I know.
What’s been going on with you?
This smoothie looks delicious! I can’t wait to try it :)
I don’t like pina colada though, I’m not a fan of coconut, been sick of it once and now hate it…
PS : Please help me choose from the cooking books listed on The Veggie Eco-Life
One after the other we are having exquisite delights from you. Not just that you make our mouth water, you also make us jealous of you having such a wonderful lifestyle.
Your peach banana colada smoothie is a must during my holidays at the beach. But of course I will prepare it with fresh peaches :-)
LOVE pina coladas! Never tried a peach one but I would imagine I’d like that, too! ;)
Hey,
I love pina coladas. Although I do like the alcoholic version, I made your recipe on Monday night with friends and it was GOOD!!
Thanks for lmk you enjoyed it. With alcohol :)
Yumm!! I had a mixed berry (raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, blakcberry) smoothie this morning, but might go a little more tropical tomorrow – hopefully that will encourage the weather to cheer up where I am!
Your smoothie looks good! Like that you put peaches in it, thats one of my favorit fruits!
My week so far has been all work. Im fine with that though, I LOVE my job :D And today I had my exam, really exited to be done with that :)
Hope you are enjoying your week too! I guess you are.. ;)
Me too on warm weather, especially watermelon and watermelon cocktails. The smoothie recipe looks good.
1. Sure, any fruit cocktail is alright with me.
2. Not really, just planning the office re-do and stressing at work. :-)
Aruba, peach + banana smoothie… hmmmm sounds like a dream.
I luv smoothies! Especially with frozen mangoes from Trader Joe’s.
Beautiful pictures!
Yum–makes my mouth water just to look at it. I adore smoothies…
We have the explosion of green going on here, and trying to find some focus–so much to do and so much to pay attention to!
oh man I bet the fruit in Aruba are way better than here! ;) so true, there are way worse things she can ask for.
This looks sooo refreshing! I love smoothies but RARELY have them. Mainly because I HATE cleaning my Vita-Mix, LOL. I need to make it worth it… make two servings and force Dustin to drink up! ;)
Now that the weather is nice I think I’ll try to have them more often. I always enjoy them when I take the time to make them–providing I don’t over-blend them and whip them into mousse. :?
I have Magic Bullet, too. But the cups… that’s a good question. They seem to have run away from home, lol.
I think I just might make a vegan smoothie for a bedtime snack. Vegan… can’t handle much dairy before bed. I’ve been hearing wonderful things about goat and sheep’s milk for people that can’t have moo juice! They say it’s MUCH easier to digest. I love goat cheese, so I’m going to pick up some goat milk to test out next month. :)
I’m feeling sleepy babbly… can you tell? hehe <3
Mmm, I used to make pina colada smoothies, they were so yummy! I have to do that again :D + peach sounds amazing too :D
We’re potty training here :( So at least 50% of my day has been spent in the bathroom so far(and trust me, it’s probably the smallest bathroom you’ve ever seen). At least. And everything is taking me forever to do. I’m already wondering how dinner is going to get done. I’m so looking forward to nap time, haha.
I like ALL colodas – haha!!! It sounds SUPERB, and perfect for sitting on my deck and fantasizing that I am in Aruba :-)
I love pina colada’s so I’m going to go ahead and say that I (will) love peach coladas. I’ll have to try it out with your recipe soon! Especially since it’s definitely smoothie weather where I live.
Ohh this recipe is perfectly suited for your vacation post! Love it!
I prefer my coladas pina, although this could be because I havent had a peach colada… Must change this soon.
Your baby girl is so precious!
It’s finally warm enough out to be smoothie season! And this looks wonderful! Yum!
I am a huge peach lover. Fresh, canned, blended, smoothie-fied. I’ll eat them any way. Will have to try some peach coladas. They look & sound great.
Monday I blended up some cranberries (thawed), bananas and ginger with some water to make a wonderfully refreshing smoothie stash to take to the paintball field. So good!
thanks for all your catching up comments this morning :)
I have tried cantaloupe in smoothies and I just can’t get into them. There’s something funny about it. Peaches too.
I guess I’m not much of a tropical girl. Pina coladas…meh. But I’ll drink pretty much anything else!
the cantaloupe didnt make it into the smoothies, but it made for a nice photo :)
I love anything Pina Colada tasting, but they clearly taste 100 times better on the beach!
Oh my kids beg for smoothies too! Well the 1 year old just grunts and yells when he sees his brother enjoying one! lol I just started sweetening mine with Stevia in the Raw. It’s been yummy! Hey, thanks for stopping by my blog and for your very very generous compliments. You are an encourager! Thank you!!
well you deserve every thing i said in that comment :)
babble didnt pick me as a top blogger…but they picked you and 99 others! and your pics on FG are awesome, so you have the right formula right off the bat!
I made this smoothie today for my morning snack since we FINALLY have sun andwarm weather in NH. Delish!
you already made it? awesome!! :)
Oh I totally agree, a child that’s begging for smoothies is PERFECT! I love homemade pina colada’s but the stuff they serve at resorts is so full of sugar and garbage, I just can’t handle it.
I’m not a huge smoothie person, but I do like a good mango-banana smoothie every once in awhile. I’m so happy because the sun finally came out after a week+of rain and cold, and I think it’s supposed to stay sunny for awhile! I can believe how much the weather affects my moods.
Peach and banana just scream summer! It sounds like the perfect antidote to all of this rain and cold we’ve had in the northeast. You always have great sweet and savory treat ideas, so I thought I’d share one for Pesto Popcorn. Happy snacking!

i love popcorn and just saw your pic/recipe…yum!
you have the best smoothie creations! I get blender happy and just throw in anything I think might “work” in a smoothie and the flavors tend to get lost. I think I need to start picking a theme for the flavors and cut down the number of things I throw in so that the flavors meld together better. Glad your enjoying your vacation and getting time to just breathe.
yes i find that concentrating a few flavors is better than the “everything in the kitchen sink” approach…but im known to do that sometimes too :)
omg that looks so good. i can’t wait for smoothies this summer! anything with peach in it is fine by me!
what’s new with me? i put in my notice at my law firm and my last day is tuesday. i’m taking the summer off to reflect and figure out where i want to take my career and life next (i bookmarked your dream job post). oh, and i got my first tattoo on monday night! durga. i love it.

congrats and cool art!
This smoothie looks so refreshing, especially on the beach! I’m bringing my Magic Bullet with me on vacation this summer so we can whip up some smoothies in the hotel!
do it! and enjoy all your smoothies :)
Now a peach colada sounds right up my alley! Yum!
No exciting plans this week, just more doctor’s appointments. Not looking forward to today! Although the results of my bloodwork came back, ugh hypothyroidism. Considering every woman in my family has it, I really shouldn’t be surprised, but what a pain!
The smoothie looks delicious — I’m not a huge pina colada fan (I’d never order one but I’d drink one!) but it sounds very refreshing right now!
What a perfect beach drink. I made a healthier pina colada last year using bananas, coconut rum, and pineapples. The sweetness from the rum was all you really needed.
Smoothies sound absolutely perfect in Aruba on vacation! Skylar’s lucky to have a mom who knows her way around the Vita-mix or Magic Bullet. ;) Cantaloupes are a perfect add-in, and so is the rum for the over-21 crowd haha.
lots better for us than leaving it at home where it’s doing me no good is my thought process :)
Ugh, I have been a smoothie monster lately!!! This one sounds delicious!
mmmmm this sounds fantastic! Gotta love the magic bullet!! I definitely like every colada I’ve ever tried ;). I actually prefer them sans alcohol (so…really a smoothie).
averie, i just found your blog and wanted to say i love the vibe with which you go through life :) aruba looks like a blast and i’m feeling more relaxed just checking out your posts. as a new-ish yogi, i am also inspired by your workouts (and poses! amazing!) + balanced approach to exercise.
thanks for saying hi and reading and the great compliments!
smoothies are my daily fix during the summer. those sound right up my alley, maybe a little rum too.
hehe.
Hi love!
I am just enjoying all the beautiful pics : ) you guys are for sure having a beautiful vacation!
I love this smoothie! Sounds so yum and refreshing! I do like Pina Coladas, I dont drink them much, but when on a beach, I have had one before! Love it!
Katie xoxo <3
i never understood the meaning of “it is TOO HOT out” til i went to aruba. honestly, between 2-3 pm it is even too hot for me, and i adore sun and heat…the reason for siestas – i get it!
not a fruit flavour fan…chocolate or vanilla, yes. so have never tried a pina colada or any other fruity beverage (and please no fruit in my ice cream).
enjoy your relaxation time, and hope those ideas and a-ha’s keep flowing (like the rum!).
have a great day – you sure have lucked out with better weather than in december!
Perfection. Simply perfection. And I LOVE that it’s in a jar! ;-)
Your sunny and beachy Aruba photos make me so happy! Lounging around on vacation is a good time to soul-search isn’t it?!
I crave fruit and fruit smoothies like crazy when it’s hot. Last summer I ate an entire cantaloupe in the span of about thirty minutes. They are just too good!
mmm, this looks wonderful! I’m digging the idea of a peach colada. I used to be a pineapple fiend but sort of outgrew it…so sweet! I think rum is more than appropriate for a cold smoothie while sitting on the beach, though ;)
I’m glad being in Aruba for a break has given you time to think and recharge. Nothing exciting going on here except trying to break a new record for most tissues used in a week ;) I think I’ve already broken it…
