Easy Cheese Ravioli Lasagna Recipe

I adore lasagna and am always making different easy versions like my lasagna soup, lasagna pinwheels, and healthier 20-minute lasagna skillet. But I don’t think it gets easier than this cheesy ravioli lasagna recipe!

  • Aside from the spin on the flavor that the ravioli adds, itโ€™s a time-saver not to have to boil lasagna noodles.
  • From start to finish, the entire dish is ready to eat in less than an hour.
  • One batch makes plenty for the whole family, and stores well for easy meals you’ll look forward to the next day.
  • If you’re interested in a ground beef twist, check out this Ravioli Lasagna which features ravioli plus seasoned ground beef, marinara, cheese and more.

My cheesy beef ravioli is ready in just 30 minutes and makes enough for the whole family! Or, if you prefer something a little on the lighter side, my summer ravioli salad is packed with veggies, cheesy ravioli, and a tangy Dijon vinaigrette!

Ingredients You’ll Need

Unlike traditional lasagna, which requires lots of ingredients like eggs, cottage cheese or ricotta cheese, and a tricky homemade meat sauce, this lasagna with ravioli requires just four simple ingredients.

Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Refrigerated ravioli: Look for two big family-sized packages, usually 18 to 20 ounces each. I used cheese ravioli to play up the cheesy theme, but most any variety will work
  • Marinara sauce: Feel free to substitute your favorite red pasta sauce or tomato sauce
  • Mozzarella cheese: If you happen to have provolone, ricotta, pecorino, or Romano on hand, they would also be nice options as well
  • Parmesan cheese: I donโ€™t recommend using the green can of shelf-stable Parmesan โ€œcheese.โ€ Save that one for another recipe
  • Basil or parsley, for garnishing

Include add-ins!

If thereโ€™s no protein in your ravioli, feel free to add cooked ground beef, ground turkey, or Italian sausage to the sauce mixture. Just be sure to drain off the excess oil before adding it to the pan with the other ingredients.

Or, if you want extra nutrients, add sautรฉed onion, mushrooms, spinach, zucchini, or bell peppers to the sauce.

How to Make Cheese Ravioli Lasagna

This dish is so easy and quick and no chef skills are necessary!

  1. Preheat the oven to 400F, and grease a casserole dish with cooking spray.
  2. Pour one-quarter of the marinara sauce into the bottom of the dish, spreading it out evenly. Then, layer part of the ravioli on top. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the pasta.
  3. Repeat, layering the ingredients until you have three or four layers of ravioli.
  4. Cover the dish with foil, and bake for 30 minutes. Then, remove the foil, and continue to bake just until the cheese is browned and bubbly.
  5. Sprinkle extra parmesan cheese on top, and garnish with fresh parsley or basil. Enjoy warm with a side of cheesy garlic bread or a simple green salad!

I made this last night with just a couple changes, I added ricotta cheese to the layers. I also cooked ground beef adding a little Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, garlic powder, then drained it thoroughly by placing in paper towels and squeezing out as much grease as possible. Once added to the marinara sauce, I did the layers to bake it. LOVE how fast a lasagna recipe can come together.

    1. Thank you so much for the five star review and so happy to hear that you loved how fast this lasagna recipe came together! I emailed this out to my email list about 48 hours ago and I’m thinking you must have been on that list and I love it when an older post gets some new love and attention!

  2. I have not made this yet. looking for clarification. Is the ravioli coming from the refrigerated section, not the frozen section? It seems like just refrigerated ravioli would disintegrate in 45 mins.

    1. I use refrigerated. It’s smothered in a lot of sauce and cheese, and also baked covered for 30 of the 45 minutes, so it’s fine and does not disintegrate. But you can experiment with frozen if that’s your preference. And I always remind folks to bake until done in your oven, whatever that means, since all ovens, baking or casserole dishes, ingredients, etc can vary quite a bit.

  4. Hi, Averie, this recipe says 210 calories per serving. Can this be correct? Your healthier skillet lasagna says 385 calories per serving.

    1. Well this really depends how many servings you get out of the pan, the exact kind of ravioli used, etc. The nutrition stats are provided as a courtesy figure and that’s what the automated program gave as the stats.
