Creamy Boozy Iced Coffee – This is the fastest and easiest method way to make iced coffee that I’ve tried, and I’ve tried plenty. As long as you keep a stash of chilled coffee in your fridge, you can make a smooth, creamy, rich, and fancy-tasting drink in just one minute.
I love iced coffee so much that I can’t even order it from a coffee shop unless I wanted to go broke.
I can slam a $4 drink in 14 seconds.
It’s better for my wallet that I make my own iced coffee at home.
Plus, at home I can add booze.
I’ve never understood the mystique behind iced coffee and why people are so impressed, yet intimated by it.
Like Chocolate Chip Cookies, there are so many different recipes and ways to make it. Yet in the end, they all taste fairly similar. The difference is that some of them seem ridiculously complicated and labor-intensive.
My method is extremely fast and easy. Brew a pot coffee. Drink whatever hot coffee you want. Take the leftover and pour it into a jar or pitcher and refrigerate it. You can also pour some into ice cube trays for coffee ice cubes.
I always keep a stash of chilled coffee in my fridge and when I’m ready for an iced coffee, I simply pour it over ice and stir in cream and sweetener.
I also added Frangelico. It’s a liqueur made with toasted hazelnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, cocoa and vanilla extract. The flavor profile is right up my alley. You’d be hard pressed to find a dessert recipe of mine that doesn’t use at least one, or three or four, or those elements.
It’s so well-suited for adding a splash of it to coffee. You can add it to warm coffee of course, but at this time of year, iced coffee is especially tasty. Then again, I drink steaming hot coffee in July and iced coffee in January. Coffee knows no seasons.
There’s a recipe for Iced Coffee on Frangelico’s site, but it’s made with espresso, but not everyone has an espresso maker.
Instead I used Dark Sumatra coffee, courtesy of the Trader.
The drink is creamy, sweet enough, and the flavor of the hazelnuts in the Frangelico shines.
There are hints of cocoa in Frangelico, and I played that up and added dark chocolate shavings to the drink. Feel free to add a squirt of chocolate syrup. Take any excuse to work in more chocolate into your life.
I don’t normally add whipped cream to coffee but this was a special occasion so I went for it. The creamier the better. I’m that person who likes a little coffee with my cream.
It’s smooth, tastes luxurious and fancy, but it’s so fast and easy. It’s truly the 1 minute iced coffee.
It goes down so fast and easy, too. It’s almost Friday of a holiday weekend. Cheers!

Creamy Boozy Iced Coffee
This is the fastest and easiest method way to make iced coffee that I’ve tried, and I’ve tried plenty. As long as you keep a stash of chilled coffee in your fridge, you can make a smooth, creamy, rich, and fancy-tasting drink in just one minute. Frangelico is a liqueur made with toasted hazelnuts, brown sugar, cinnamon, cocoa and vanilla extract, and a splash is perfect in coffee. Such a refreshing and satisfying drink.
Ingredients
- 6 ounces strong brewed coffee, well-chilled
- large handful of ice cubes. tip: freeze leftover coffee in ice cube trays for coffee ice cubes
- 1 ounce Frangelico
- 1 ounce half-and-half, or to taste (or cream, milk, flavored coffee creamer, non-dairy milk to keep vegan)
- sweetener to taste - sugar, stevia, vanilla stevia, or your favorite sweetener
- whipped topping (or whipped coconut cream to keep vegan), optional for garnishing
- pinch dark chocolate shavings, optional for garnishing
- squirt of chocolate syrup, optional
Instructions
- Brew coffee. Allow it to cool, and pour cooled coffee into a pitcher or large jar. Refrigerate until chilled; overnight is best. I always keep a stash of chilled coffee in the refrigerator.
- Add ice cubes to a large glass. Pour coffee over ice.
- Add Frangelico, half-and-half, sweetener, and stir to combine.
- Optionally, garnish with whipped topping, chocolate shavings, chocolate syrup. Serve immediately.

Have you ever tried Frangelico? Coffee or iced coffee fan?
Love this drink! I’m a big fan of coffee, and I love trying new variations on it. This creamy boozy iced coffee is definitely a new favorite. The coffee itself is rich and flavorful, and the addition of cream and booze takes it to a whole new level (if you know what I mean 😅) Delicious!
Suggestion for your love of iced coffee — a Toddy Cold Brew System (https://toddycafe.com/). Using this to make iced coffee is so much yummier than cooling brewed coffee.
Do you make your own vegan whipped cream or is it something that can be found in the store?
Do you make your own vegan whipped cream or is it something you can find in stores?
You can whip full fat coconut milk. Just skim off the top layer after it’s separated and chilled in the fridge and whip it!
You can get espresso for regular machines. If this works out, I may not need Starbucks anymore…..
I like your ideas for iced coffee. We make a double strength coffee and had whatever flavored creamer is in the house and some 2 % milk and some sweetener. I keep a quart in the fridge for me. My daughter is like you with chocolate. The more the merrier.
Those other ideas following the recipe are going to be saved for later. They look good too.
Thank you
Yeah. This looks pretty incredible! Going to be perfect for these hot summer days coming up!
I can’t fathom the idea of not sipping coffee even for a day. Sigh. Yours look so so dreamy :)
The glass on first picture was popular in Asia at the moment. It often uses for ice plum tea or ice cream coffee in cafe at summer season. Nice details.
Oh man! This looks and sounds amazing! I loooove iced coffee (and hot coffee)…and booze for that matter ;-)
I am an iced coffee addict! This looks fabulous :)
This drink looks amazing! I’ve never met an iced coffee I didn’t like, and I too LOVE adding the booze to it. I’ve never tried Frangelico, but now I must. I love all things hazelnut. Except the actual nut itself, lol!
Have just started to make my own iced coffees to cool down from the heat and I can totally relate on the slamming it in 14 seconds. They are just so refreshing and sweet, it’s difficult not to chug it all in one go! Also, I LOVE frangelico – what a great idea to add a splash.
This looks so good. I’ve never tried Frangelico but I love anything with nuts in it and so I will definitely consider buying a bottle!
I never order iced coffee drinks for just that reason – they go down way too fast! (I get what I pay for with hot lattes, they require nursing.) Maybe if I made my own chilly coffee, I wouldn’t have to worry so much about gulping down my money. :D
Great idea to toss in the Frangelico! ♥
gulping down my money = that is EXACTLY the perfect sentiment and how I feel about it. Well said! And thanks for the pin!
I’m a sucker for iced coffee too but I never added booze to it. I feel like I’ve been wasting my time! Love Frangelico.
And I’ve been meaning to make some coffee ice cubes! It’s the season for them.
You’re never wasting your time with coffee, but…things can be improved upon :)
This is bringing me back to my Starbucks and Coffee Beanery days ( not sure if Coffee Beanery is a national thing but I always liked it better). I love that you added booze!
I used to work at the mall in h.s. in MN and yes,Coffee Beanery, very familiar! And they are natl and I have been to one in San Diego (on the opposite side of San Diego from where I live now) but yes, they have great flavored coffee!
YUM! I was just standing in BevMo trying to decide if I wanted Frangelico or St. Germain. I opted for St. Germain :) Next time I’ll get the Frangelico.
PS. Love the new graphic/logo!
You can’t go wrong with either! And I hope you and J have a wonderful holiday weekend!
and p.s. Thanks! What a labor of love? it’s been with my site makeover and getting it all together but I looooove it now. Thanks for noticing!
OMG Averie, as much as I love iced coffee, you kill me by adding frangelico, one of my absolute favorite liqueurs! I made some hazelnut liqueur a few months ago, but the link to the story and ingredients makes me want to try again.
I made Baileys in Feb. and now you have me intrigued with your hazelnut liqueur!
This looks so good! I totally agree about buying iced coffee, I think I finished my Starbucks yesterday in 30 seconds flat. Thankfully I learned how to make it at home, haha! Your version looks amazing though!
The 30 seconds problem is why I can’t even buy it anymore!
Hi Rachel do you mind sharing how you make it at home would love to know
Creamy and boozy? Yes please! I am like you, I can slam down an iced coffee in minutes : )
I don’t know which I like more… the first is sooooo yumm!!!
xo
I recognize those chocolate pieces….that’s TJoe’s best,

Love Frangelico. Great coffee idea!
I am 100% loyal to their Pound Plus Bars and always have milk, dark, and 72% varieties on hand at all times for whatever my baking needs are!
Iced coffee…YES please! This drink looks so dreamy. I could use a cup right now before I head out the door to do all my Mommy errands for the day!
Mommy errands…oh I have that afternoon, like, right now. Hope yours are done!
Love this so much, Averie!! I need a cup right now :D
Bring some of that booze over here. I could sure use a splash right about now. It is Friday, after all. I love iced coffee. I cold brew my coffee as soon as the weather starts getting warm. It’s so good. I quit Starbucks about 2 weeks ago. Man, the money I save. New pair of shoes for this gal :)
Good for you! I quit it 5+ yrs ago and can’t even imagine how much money I’ve saved! I can buy a whole CONTAINER of coffee beans from TJs for 5.99. Which is what I’d spend on 1 trip to SBucks!
ohhhh iced coffee and booze. I’ll be right over!
I am SO making these over the weekend! I can’t get enough iced coffee! I’m like you, $4+ and the drink is gone before I hit the red light! :) Happy Memorial Day, Averie!
Gone before hitting the red light…you got that right for me too!
So funny- at work today I was updating our coffee drinks menu and added a frangelico and bailey’s coffee. This iced coffee looks to die- I could see myself slurping this up in 14 seconds! Creamier the better when it comes to coffee, although I rarely drink it! Hope you have a nice holiday weekend! I am headed down to sd tomoz night for bachelorette night out!
I am SO in love with iced coffee, and if it weren’t 8:30, I’d be drinking this now. LOVE the glass straw too, need to find those
Make it with decaf and consider it a night cap :)
And the straw is glassdharma.com I’ve had a half dozen or so for years…some of them are literally 6-7 yrs old and still look good as new! Can’t beat them!
yessss, the best part is adding the booze!!
All I can say is it’s simply beautiful!!
I’m like you Averie…I can drink any kind of coffee (hot or iced) in no time that I hate to spend money on them at the local coffee shop. I love making my own and this recipe sounds delicious! Can’t wait to try! :)
Honestly I could drink two storebought ice coffees (they’re mostly ice!) in like…10 minutes. And that would be close to $10 bucks! No thanks!
Not a huge fan of hot coffee, but I definitely enjoy iced coffee. And the Frangelico just sealed the deal!
Oh man – you’ve totally outdone yourself here. Now I’m not much of a drinker (as you can tell from BTP) but Jason would enjoy the crap out of this one!
And I honestly didn’t think you were that bad at BTP. I wouldn’t even have known! Seriously!
oh my gosh Averie. No you did not. You added booze to one of my favorite drinks ever! I just had iced coffee yesterday and yes… I bought it from a coffee shop. Kevin asked me to pick him up a chai tea latte, so I got an iced coffee too. It was $10 total. for 2 drinks. I know, insane. I guzzle all of my drinks so fast, so going out for iced coffee or any coffee drink all the time is just not worth it to me! Anyway, love this drink, love the photos, love that your on the top-ish of FG with it and I’m pinning it!
$10 total for 2 drinks…I.die. THAT is why I can’t go out for coffee, especially iced coffee, b/c they’re mostly ice and it’s gone in a second! And I saw your blondies in the 2nd row. It was good FG karma for us today :) Thanks for the pin!
Oh yeah, this is my kind of iced coffee! This will be perfect for a hot summer day!
This would be SO DANGEROUS around me! I’m like you, I slam iced coffee (or chai, or anything) super fast. Might not be such a good thing with the booze :) but this looks amazing! Going to try this out come summertime!! (Just one more week!)
We guzzling twins :)
I could use one of these right about now… love the Frangelico!
MMM this iced coffee sounds delicious for this sleepy morning!
I use Frangelico in a biscotti recipe that I make at Christmas time, but have never used it for anything else….I think I just might have to try this! My husband says that I like ‘coffee flavored cream’ so I thought your comment was pretty funny about having a little coffee with your cream! Yum!
MGM
I love your husband’s analogy and that’s so true for me :)
I’m totally with you, Averie. I can slurp down an almost-$5 frap in a few minutes so I learned to make them at home recently and I’ve been saving a ton of money! This is a great idea – my husband loves iced coffee and I love frangelico!
I stopped going there years ago b/c seriously I would have gone broke! Plus, I like drinks I make at home better anyway :)
I make iced coffee all the time at home … but I have never put booze in it. That obviously needs to change asap. I’m also thinking that some whipped topping and chocolate shavings need to happen too!
It’s nice to DIY at home and customize as desired :)
This is exactly how I make my iced coffee too! Have a cup of hot one in the morning and by the afternoon I can have iced one to chillax after a whole day :) LOVE your addition of Frangelico! Wish they made perfume that smells like it!
Now that would be a great scent! Thanks for the pin, and glad you make it the same way I do…so easy. I see all these VERY complicated recipes and I’m like..why!?
Frangelico = best liqueur EVER. Excellent choice! :D
Iced coffee is sooooo refreshing! The addition of Frangelico sounds quite delicious! I think I’ll make this on Saturday morning to give off Memorial Day weekend! Thanks for the recipe!
Sounds like a good Saturday :)
Love this – coffee AND A-A-AA-A-A-al-cohol!! Pinning :)
Thanks for the pin!
This iced coffee looks like a beautiful milkshake. I usually don’t drink coffee but is something I would love to try!
Oh, I love iced coffee, this is stunning!
IN. in, in, in.
Looks so good! And what in the world could make coffee any better?? Booze! Yep. :)
Aaaaveeeerrrrie! OMG! This is beeeeyond! I make something similar and it is pretty amazing. Loves it!
I don’t drink iced coffee very often but when I do, I prefer it sweet and dessert like, or creamy and boozy like this! Now I kinda want a glass (even though I’m at work, I still want this version with Frangelico hehehe)
So I was already COMPLETELY on board with this (I love coffee and booze…ummm that makes me sound like an alcoholic…), but then you used Frangelico, and I had completely forgotten how head over heels I am for that stuff! Everyone else uses Baileys or Kahlua, but this sounds sososo much better! LOVE!
So glad you’re on board – yes, it’s got all the elements going for me, too :)
Now that is a fun way to start the day!
I’m one of those people that don’t drink coffee but love coffee-flavored things and iced coffee (probably because they all contain lots of sugar!). I know I’d love this, and I especially like how you served these in mason jars. So fun!
IF you love iced coffee, I would consider you a coffee drinker :)
I am ALL OVER THIS Averie. Coffee is my lifeline, and well. Adding alcohol just makes the day better. ;)
It just makes the day better – YES, indeed!
Looks delicious, love the chocolate shavings on top! – “I can slam a $4 drink in 14 seconds”- So right, me too, I always thought I was crazy but glad I’m not the only one! That’s the trouble with iced drinks!
They go down SO fast, yes!
Iced coffee is a staple for me in the summer, and I love this idea of boozing it up!
I love coffee in every form imaginable, hot, iced, frozen, in a shake, in a bowl, coffee yogurt. It’s probably one of my most favorite flavors next to gingersnap and chocolate.
I’ve been trying recently to replicate Starbuck’s coffee frappuccinos at home and haven’t had a lot of success. But I must forge on!
Gingersnap and chocolate…mmmm, two of mine, too! I love ginger/molasses, and those rich, robust flavors. I have tons of cookie recipes with those flavors, that I don’t bake only in the winter/pre-Xmas. I love them year round!
And SB’s Frapps. I dont really order their Frapps but I know there are tons of copycat recipes online for things like that.
I’m an iced coffee addict! Haha. I almost always make mine at home but it’s typically fairly mundane. Love the idea of adding a little somethin’ somethin’!
I’ve only tried one of those cold starbuck’s from a bottle things once – my sister had one and I took a sip. I wasn’t sold on it. So I’m not really sure how I feel about iced coffee. I might give it another try if you can email me this though ;-)
I don’t drink coffee, but this drink looks so good! I mean there is whipped cream involved! I think I need to start!
No! Don’t even start. It’s a bad little habit..but gosh, it tastes so good :)
Cheaper, easier, and boozy-sign me up! Starbucks seriously loves me because I’m a frequent buyer and consume entirely too many of their delicious drinks. I sometimes try to make it at home, but there is something about that little green straw that makes it taste better. Now that I have this boozy recipe, I think I can finally save some pennies and make my own! Awesome recipe!
Girl just think of all the MONEY you’ll save. Even if you only go there a few times a week, that’s like $15 bucks a week you’ll save. That’s $60 a month. That’s a cute new shirt or new dishes or whatever!
I love iced coffee. I drink it nearly every afternoon. I do the same with my leftover pot of coffee (if there is any leftover). Otherwise I use my Keurig to brew an extra cup just for iced coffee. And Frangelico? One of my favorite liquors!
I need to use my single serve coffee maker more…it’s just that it makes it HOT (as expected) which is fine if I want hot coffee…but that’s why my leftover refrigerated coffee always wins :)
Okay- I know this is going to sound lame/gross but have you had MickieD’s iced hazelnut coffee?? A friend of mine introduced me to it during a roadtrip I was trying not to fall asleep on (and for Mcdonalds its pretty yum)- but ANYWAYS this looks like a 10x better version!! I love hazelnut with my coffee and in the summertime iced? Yum yum yum! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never had the McD hazelnut coffee but I do love love flavored Coffee-Mate, yes, I do. French Vanilla and Hazelnut are always on rotation! Good to know if I’m ever on a road trip and in a jam that the McD’s version is good!
There is nothing more wonderful than iced coffee on a hot summer day! Can’t wait to try this!
Yummm! The hubs and I love our coffee. We roast our own green beans and all that jazz. This looks like such a delicious, creative way to change up the norm a bit! Frangelico is the perfect flavor here! Well done. :)
You roast your own beans? Wow…I am impressed!!! Love that! I can’t say I ever have!
It’s fun! And the smell of coffee beans roasting in your own kitchen is amazing!! :)
I can only imagine how amazing it is!
I love how you spruced up your coffee with some booze! Definitely makes for a more interesting start to the day!
I love iced coffee, especially in the warmer months. I always have some in the fridge year around (hubby likes some in his choc protein drink), and I am the one at work who pours the leftover coffee over ice. Frangelico and Baileys are 2 of my favorite liqueurs…and I really wish there was a Frangelico flavored coffee creamer out there for my workday fixes (though I can get pretty close when I start with hazelnut creamer and add flavorings from my extensive Sweetleaf and LorAnn collection)!
The only way I enjoy choc protein drinks (haven’t had any in years!) but is not mixing with water, but mixing with leftover cold coffee!
Hazelnut creamer and Sweetleaf stevia and LorAnn….wow, did you just raid my pantry or what?! :) I have all of the above and do exactly what you just said. I assume you have the English Toffee Sweetleaf? They also have a chocolate one. NuNaturals is my fave for vanilla but they dont make any other flavored versions. Darn.
Love the English toffee sweetleaf (and choc, cinnamon, and hazelnut)! I have tried all of them except the lemon–and Nu Naturals vanilla is superb, though since I have homemade vanilla extract I haven’t bought any in a while.
And TJs now sells liquid stevia! It’s only 6.99 for the same size dropper bottle as S.L or NuNaturals and it’s not flavored, but it’s clean, smooth, not chemically (there are some brands that are horrid) and I’ve been using that lately!
I am a professional coffee addict. I need to start my day with a cup or it won’t be a perfect day. I love to experiment with coffee as well :) another recipe to try out.
I like both, but I’m pretty specific about which type I like when. Hot coffee in the morning. Always. Iced coffee is like a treat to me, so I only order that in the summer, in the afternoon. I associate it with being on vacation, somehow. Oh, and I never sweeten regular hot coffee, but iced coffee has to have a bit of sweetener in it.
I look at iced coffee as a treat too – and I use stevia and sugarfree creamer in it b/c I can down like 10 oz in a minute :)
Omigosh! I actually always make a giant pot of coffee and then put it in the fridge. Or make cold-brew. But now, now I must get some frangelico!
Makes it extra good! Glad you already have a giant pot waiting in the fridge and always do! Great minds think alike :)
