Easy Crock Pot Cola Pork Chops Recipe
This is one of those recipes that you may be a little skeptical, but I promise it’s a winner! This is one of those recipes that’s been around forever (even if you’ve never heard of it) because it delivers super juicy and flavorful pork chops with almost no work.
You whisk together a simple sauce and pork that over a half dozen pork chops in your slow cooker and then just truly set-it-and-forget-it.
The sauce is a mixture of ketchup, brown sugar, onion and garlic powder, and the special ingredient is Coca Cola. You only use 2/3 of a standard can of Coke so it’s not all that much considering the recipe makes 6 chops.
The Coke tenderizes the pork chops as they cook and as time passes during the slow cooking process, the liquid volume evaporates, and you’re left with a rich sauce that’s savory yet sweet.
The pork chops don’t taste like Coke though! And they’re not overly sweet, although yes, there is some sweetness. Much like barbecue sauce has some sweetness to it, that’s what’s going on here, with a touch more. See the FAQs below for how to make this recipe using BBQ sauce.
However, if you’re a person that does not like any sweetness with savory, this isn’t the pork chop recipe for you. Instead, make my Best Easy Grilled Pork Chops or French Onion Pork Chops.

Recipe FAQs
If you’d like to use boneless chops, that’s fine. Cooking time may vary a bit so make sure to keep an eye on them. They may actually cook a bit faster, but it depends on the exact thickness and your slow cooker.
I’ve tried this recipe both searing and not – and just adding the raw pork chops directly into my Crockpot. I find there’s no substantial flavor or texture difference if I sear them or not, so I just skip it. One less step, one less pan to dirty!
I recommend either a 6-quart or 7-quart oval-shaped slow cooker. Anything smaller such as the 4 or 5-quart models, or round shapes, won’t allow for optimal cooking. You need enough space for things to actually cook properly.
With the high heat setting, the pork chops are done in about 3-4 hours. And on low, closer to 6-7 hours. For me, I prefer cooking on high because it works out better for my life and evening dinner planning. But you can cook on slow/low if you want these beauties really slow cooking all day. Slow cookers can vary dramatically in their heat output so cooking time is just a guesstimate based on your device.
I have not tried either of them and don’t recommend it. The natural sugar in real Coca Cola is what makes these pork chops so good. The issue with diet or zero products is that frankly the chemicals are simmering for hours and the chemical-ey taste may intensify which is why I personally haven’t tried. I don’t want to ruin perfectly good meat with that experiment.
As long as they’re regular (full sugar and not diet), they will likely be fine. Although I have only made these Crockpot pork chops with Coca Cola. I’ve also seen similar recipes using root beer rather than cola.
The same temp for all pork to be considered done is 145F as measured by a digital thermometer.
I’ve actually seen this recipe made with barbecue sauce rather than ketchup and Worcheshire like I use. So if you want to use BBQ sauce, I’d pick your favorite (personally I’d go with Sweet Baby Ray’s) and use 1 1/2 cups of it, use 1 cup of Coke, and all the other ingredients are up to you – the brown sugar, the garlic and onion powder, the Worcheshire, salt and pepper. It really depends on the flavor profile you’re going for. Taste the sauce before you add it to your Crock-Pot, see if you like it, and tweak it from there.

Crockpot Coca Cola Pork Chops
Equipment
- 1 6-quart slow cooker OR use a 7-quart
Ingredients
- 6 bone-in pork chops, see the FAQs in blog post if you want to use boneless
- 1 ½ cups ketchup
- ¼ cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 to 3 teaspoons onion flakes
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- 1 cup Coca-Cola, for questions about soda options, see the FAQs
Instructions
- Spray the inside of your slow cooker basin with cooking spray and place the pork chops in the slow cooker, as spread out as space allows; set aside momentarily.
- To a medium bowl, add all the remaining ingredients except for the Coca Cola, and whisk to combine.
- Add the Coke and whisk gently to combine.
- Evenly pour the mixture over the pork chops.
- Cover the slow cooker with the lid and slow cook on HIGH heat for 3 to 4 hours. OR cook on LOW heat for 6 to 8 hours. Slow Cooking Tips – Pork is done when the internal temp reaches 145F as measured by a thermometer. Do no guess; use a thermometer. All slow cookers vary in their heat output, as do pork chops vary in their size and thickness, as do kitchens vary in how warm they are. All these variables will affect the cook time. Cook until the pork reaches the correct temperature, and this can vary by many hours. It's best though not to keep opening the lid and "checking" on it. Check, but not excessively, so that precious steam and heat aren't escaping and unlike a normal oven, a slow cooker won't come back up to temp for a longer time period, which just prolongs the cooking process unnecessarily.
- After the pork chops are done, allow them to rest for a few minutes, before serving. I always spoon extra sauce from the slow cooker onto the cooked pork chops for more flavor and juiciness.
- Storage – Extra pork chops will keep airtight in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Reheat gently in the microwave, or as desired.
