Make-Ahead Smoothie Freezer Packs

Meal Prep Smoothie Packs — Prep your breakfasts and snacks for the week with these easy and DELISH freezer pack smoothie recipes!! They’ll make your mornings and your life so much EASIER!!

Smoothie Meal Prep Ideas

Back to school season is upon us and while some parents stress out over homework and carpooling duty, I worry about something else: what to prepare quickly and easily for breakfast.

Making mornings easier, more streamlined, and knowing that I have breakfast waiting for us is a great feeling.

I simply take a couple of these meal prepped smoothie packs out of the freezer and toss the contents into the blender with Silk Unsweetened, Vanilla Almondmilk for a perfect for grab-and-go breakfast or easy snacks.

The Silk #TastesLikeBetter campaign is rooted in providing delicious dairy-free products that inspire people to live a life grounded in positive choices that offer both taste and nutrition.

Silk products are dairy-free, lactose-free, cholesterol-free, and free from artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives. The smoothie pack recipes are naturally gluten-free and vegan but you’d never notice because they’re satisfying and flavorful.

Of course you don’t have to be a kid or have kids going back to school to enjoy the convenience of these frozen smoothie packs!

What You’ll Need to Make Smoothie Packs

The combinations for smoothies are endless. My general rule of thumb is as follows:

Ingredient Ratios for Smoothie Freezer Packs:

Tip: You can get fancier and add chia seeds, maca powder, dried oats, protein powder or whatever you enjoy.

Smoothie Pack #1: Blueberry Smoothie

The blueberry and greens smoothie is great if you’re trying to work more greens into you and your family’s diet (you can’t taste them!), and the peanut butter provides a boost of protein.

To make a blueberry smoothie pack, you’ll need:

Smoothie Pack #2: Tropical Smoothie

For a lighter, more refreshing smoothie that can be enjoyed as a snack or mid-morning pick me up, I recommend the tropical smoothie freezer pack.

Tip: I prefer using frozen fruit because I don’t need to add ice which can water down smoothies.

How to Make Smoothie Packs

As you can imagine, preparing make-ahead smoothies is a simple process:

  1. Add the desired ingredients to separate zip-top bags (sandwich size is what I use), seal, label, and freeze.
  2. When you’re ready to consume, add the contents of one zip-top bag to the canister of a blender. Blend on high power until smooth.
  3. Add additional Silk Milk if necessary to achieve a smooth consistency. Serve immediately.

Can I Use Fresh Fruit in the Smoothie Packs?

Of course! I used frozen fruit because it’s often the better deal, but you can also freeze fresh fruit to use in smoothies.

Ultimately, though, you’ll want to be adding frozen fruit (whether pre-frozen that you got at the store or fresh fruit you frozen yourself) to the blender to make your smoothies.

If you’re adding fresh fruit, then you’ll have to add ice as well and that can water down your finished smoothie.

Can I Add Protein Powder?

If you’re looking to bump up your protein stats and have a favorite protein powder, by all means, add a scoop.

There are lots of amazing protein powders on the market these days from whey to vegan, vanilla to chocolate. Use what you enjoy!

Notes

*Feel free to add a scoop of your favorite protein powder, if desired.
**The nutrition stats are NOT accurate. It's a computer generated estimate which is taking into account the ingredients for both types of smoothie recipes I provided and is unable to separate them. Calculate with an online tool for greater accuracy. Logically though, it would be hard that a banana, frozen fruit, and a bit of milk of your choice would have more than 200 calories.
