๐ง๐ This Grilled Spicy Garlic Chicken Recipeย is given incredible flavor thanks to the EASY homemade marinade. Created with everyday ingredients, the marinade is super flavorful and results in juicy chicken!

Easy Grilled Spicy Garlic Chicken
Summer means grilling season, and I am always looking for new and interesting marinades that pack a ton of flavor but are super easy to whisk together with ingredients you have on hand.
And this chili garlic chicken is exactly that type of marinade and recipe.
- I used the recipe forย Spicy Garlic Mustard Marinade, because it helps keep the chicken so tender, juicy, delivers so much flavor, and you whisk the ingredients together in a flash.
- Another added bonus with this garlic chicken marinade is that my chicken does not stick to the grill at all.ย Itโs like non-stick magic.
- The marinade packs a nice punch of heat thanks to both the chili garlic sauce and sriracha, and if you were dipping some tortilla chips into the marinade, yes, itโs spicy.
- Scale the recipe up as needed for a dinner party or meal prep, cooking in batches over medium heat on the grill and storing leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer.

Ingredients You’ll Need
To make this grilled garlic chicken, you’ll need:
- Mayonnaiseย
- Classic yellow mustard
- Lime juice
- Olive oil
- Garlic
- Chili garlic sauce and Sriracha: If youโre sensitive to spices and heat, you may wish to start with half the recommended amounts of chili garlic sauce and Sriracha, and add more to taste if desired. Or, add chili oil for an even bolder punch
- Honey
- Black pepper
- Fresh parsley and cilantro (both optional)ย
- Chicken breasts: As a shortcut, I used chicken breast tenders (sometimes called breast cutlets or medallions). Their smaller size makes for faster grilling times and much more even cooking. You can also use chicken thighs, if preferred. Just keep in mind that chicken thighs may require more or less time on the grill depending on how thick they are, whether theyโre boneless or bone-in, etc
Note: Scroll down to the recipe card section of the post for the ingredients with amounts included and for more complete directions.

How to Make Grilled Spicy Garlic Chicken
- Add all the ingredients except the chicken into a bowl and whisk together the spicy garlic chicken marinade.
- Transfer the marinade mixture to a large zip-top plastic bag or airtight container, add the chicken pieces, seal, and squish the contents around to evenly coat the chicken.
- Let the chicken marinate in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
- Then grill over medium-high heat until cooked through and golden brown. You’ll know it’s done when it reaches an internal temp of at least 165ยฐF, though I prefer 175ยฐF for thighs.
- Rest for a few minutes before serving to allow the natural juices to redistribute, keeping the chicken tender and juicy. I like to add a sprinkle of extra chili flakes, sesame seeds, or green onion for garnish, too!
No Grill? No Problem!
Iโve only made this spicy garlic chicken on anย outdoor grill,ย but Iโm sure you can also make it on anย indoor grill pan to pan-fry the chicken. You might be able to bake the spicy garlic chicken as well, but I havenโt tried it myself
What to Serve with Grilled Spicy Garlic Chicken
Can I just sayโฆ.. WOW. This chicken was heavenly. Iโve never tasted so much flavor in one dish. Thank you so much for this. Iโm glad I tried it, I have been making it for lunch everyday! This recipe is a blessing

great
The chicken turned out very tender! I cooked it on the grill. I didn’t have any chili sauce so I submitted it with more sriracha. It cooked well on the grill and didn’t stick! I recommend!

I can’t find chili garlic sauce where I live. Do you have a recipe to make it?
I would just use extra sriracha sauce then.
What a great dish. Made half for the two of us.
Thought the combination of the sauce was weird so had
to try it. Loved it. I served it with zucchini rounds. Any suggestions
of what else to serve it with?
Thanks for the 5 star review and glad you loved it! I think most any type of grilled vegetable would work nicely. Zucchini, sugar snap peas, yellow squash, etc. and you can grill those alongside the chicken. Or just do a salad. https://www.averiecooks.com/category/entrees/vegetables/
This grilled chicken looks so flavorful! I’d love to try it! And I agree: chicken tenders are so much easier to grill!
SO much easier! You know it!
Always excited to get new delicious chicken recipes!! :) especially for the grill…perfect!
Always fun to mix things up :)
Yum!! Love the marinade and I need to load up the grill this weekend so I can stock my freezer with some leftovers!
Yes for sure! May as well cook once and then have planned leftovers for the future!
This was so good–not too spicy but just right!! I used about 2 lbs of chicken so I would have plenty of leftovers and generously doubled the marinade and saved some (it might sound a little crazy but celery and carrots are good dipped in it too).
Glad you loved this and the heat level was just right! I actually used some of my extra of the marinade as veggie dip too!
