Have you ever tried coconut oil? Did you like it or not?
I used to hate coconut oil.
The first coconut oil I ever bought was refined coconut oil and I won’t say the brand but it was gross.
I thought it tasted like I was eating a cross between and a hunk of wax and Hawaiian Tropic tanning oil.
I moved onto Tropical Traditions which has been my go-to coconut oil for the past few years.
I’ve also tried Nutiva, Navitas Naturals, and now Kelapo.
I also did a post on refined vs. unrefined coconut oil if you’re curious about the differences, pros & cons.
How do you like to use coconut oil or what recipes do you make with it?
Do you use coconut oil for anything besides eating it or cooking with it?
Not only do I cook with it, but I use it as a hair treatment
You don’t have to buy “special” coconut oil for hair. Whatever kind of coconut oil you have will work perfectly fine in your hair, I’m sure. Makes a great leave in conditioner and smoother but just a little bit unless you like the greasy look.
I also use coconut oil on my skin, elbows, knees, lips, you name it, it works great as a moisturizer.
What do you make with coconut oil or coconut or how do you use it?

Coconut oil is my new favourite thing. I use it for cooking and in my oats … and I am going to start using it to bake once I get organized.
i love using coconut oil! It’s so good for you too. I’ve read it actually boosts your metabolism some and gives you energy in spite of the saturated fat content.
Yummy stuff too! :)
Will have to try some of these recipes. I have not used coconut oil before.
so many good recipes, must start baking!
chocolate protein popcorn??? yes please!
I just started using cocunut oil in baking and everything has such a light feeling to them. So good!
I hear ya on busy weeks, ready for this one to end! Great coconut oil recipes, so many treats I need to try!
1. Yes, I go through a lot of it in raw recipes and cooked vegan dishes.
2. Mainly for raw desserts, stir fries and popcorn.
3. I tried it as a face moisturizer, but a little too greasy for me.
Coconut oil’s probably one of my top 5 fave foods right now! I put it in everything. Your vegan chocolate SAVED me when I was bf’ing Jelly Bean. And it’s so yummy that I still make it:)
I ate it all the time when I was still nursing, too! good fats = good milk making :)
I would KILL to have 34 hours in a day. I know you relate. ;)
and then some… :)
I just used coconut oil in my hair for the first time today! Very timely post :) I noticed my hair is soooo dry and damanged from heating products that I’m thinking I need to use it every day. I’ve only ever bought the generic Whole Foods version, so I’ll have to see if it’s refined.
