Hi Friends!   I hope you have had a great week.  Mine has been crazy busy juggling work, family, life, and my Food Buzz trip.

As soon as I hit publish, I am driving to the airport and getting on my flight!  The beauty of things is that I live about 10 minutes from the San Diego airport and it’s a 45 minute Southwest flight up to San Fran.  I would have liked to have taken an earlier flight but life and my work schedule prevented it.  So, I get into SFO in the later afternoon, am hauling ass downtown in a taxi, and then let the festivities begin!  Some other ladies are already there, can’t wait to join them!

My bag is packed.  Two cocktail dresses; one is dressy, one is really dressy.   Another random dress.  Jeans, jeggings, leggings, Be Present pants, workout clothes, and an assortment of shirts from casual to chic.  One pair of 5 inch platform heels, gym shoes, and flip flops.  Oh, and the new toiletry kit and new laptop and case.

Full suitcase packed

I hope it’s under 50 pounds.  I think it is!

You know the post I did about travel tips and overpacking?  I have enough clothes to take everywhere from a yoga studio to a chic cocktail party to a casual bbq to a hip urban nightclub.  And not repeat an outfit for a few weeks.  Oh well, my clothes are small and fold up into next to nothing so who cares!

From yesterday’s post, thanks for your thoughts on gift exchanges, and buying presents and gifts for others.  It was interesting to read your gift-buying strategies; both in terms of who you buy for, and why you buy what you buy.  Many of you are a bit “over” going all out for your spouse or sig other on every single holiday or occasion and either buy things throughout the year as needed, or buy one or two key gifts, but don’t go totally hog wild.  Most of you, that is.

Thanks for telling me you thought I did ok with the photo albums and Drink Recipe book.  I mean, what do you buy a stranger, for under $25, and have it still fit in luggage and not leak?  Hopefully they like it!

Since it’s chilly where many of you live, maybe try some Savory Pumpkin, Potato, & Carrot Soup
Use up a can of pumpkin puree, some random veggies, throw it all in a pot and let it boil for 45 minutes and you’re done.  I don’t know why I was so scared to make soups for years.  It’s easy.

The pumpkin flavor was present and with a little kick from the spices, it was good!

Now I’m off to the airport.  I will probably be hitting up Starbucks.  Not sure for what.  I don’t love Starbucks, as I’ve mentioned.

And I happen to think my Vegan Caramel Macchiato is better than their caramel macchiatos are!

Questions
1. Favorite Starbucks drink?
I think I will order a venti coffee with an add shot.  Or two.  Rockin’ the 4 hours of sleep.  It’s all good though!   Back in my vegetarian and still drinking dairy days, I used to love caramel macchiatos though.  With extra caramel.  Oh, yum.  What do you like to order from ‘Bucks?  Give me some ideas!

2. Have you ever left your spouse/significant other, or child, or anyone especially meaningful to you?  How did it go?

I have never left Skylar before overnight.  For the past 5 years, she has been a part of me:  either growing inside me, nursing from me, or joined at the hip because we spend so much time together!

I am a little teary-eyed to leave her.  And Scott too.  But he’s a big boy and he travels for business constantly, so I am used to being away from him.  However, it’s different this time because I am the one getting on the plane, not him.

I do worry that he won’t condition her hair properly, that he’ll get soap in her eyes, that he won’t cut the carrot pieces small enough (of course I’ve pre-chopped enough fruits and veggies to feed a vegan army but I digress).  I worry that she may not understand why for the very first time in her life, I am not tucking her in at night.  But it’s only two nights!  And both he and she will live.  They will survive.  And probably thrive.

Scott is a wonderful and extremely competent father and the two of them will have 48 great hours together.  And I will have 48 great hours with all my blogging friends!

Bye honey, I love you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Be good for Daddy, and with that smile, you’ll be able to get away with anything, I’m sure.

3. Who do you want to meet and Why?  Who should I be sure to take a picture with?
I can’t pick just one person, but so many friends come to mind!   People who I’ve been reading their blogs for a year, or more, and I can’t wait to give them a big hug and buy them a drink!   And laugh!  Gosh, I am soooo excited!  See you all from San Fran!
