๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ” BLT Grilled Turkey Burgersย are JUICY and topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato, just like a classic BLT sandwich! EASY, ready in 15 minutes, and perfect for summer parties, theyโ€™re leaner than beef burgers and IRRESISTIBLE!

Four BLT grilled turkey burgers.

The BEST Grilled Turkey Burger Recipe

These easy turkey burgers are juicy, flavorful, and ready in just 15 minutes, meaning theyโ€™re perfect for summer grilling! Weโ€™re big fans ofย Butterball turkeyย in our house (they call us Turketarians!), and these loaded burgers with cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato are always a hit.

To keep the patties tender, I mix in onion, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce, then chill them before grilling. Whether you use fresh or frozen ground turkey, they cook up beautifully, and honestly, my family couldnโ€™t even tell they werenโ€™t beef!

They’re perfect alongside other warm-weather favorites like pink and purple potato salad and broccoli salad.

Ingredients You’ll Need

I kept these grilled turkey burgers as simple as possible โ€“ no eggs or breadcrumbs needed! Hereโ€™s what youโ€™ll need to make them:

  • Fresh or frozenย Butterball Ground Turkey: Substitute any white or dark meat ground turkey you like best. Make sure to thaw frozen turkey before you begin
  • Burger flavorings: Yellow onion, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper add depth and sweet, savory flavors to the patties
  • Cooked bacon: Use regular bacon or turkey bacon. To make your burger prep even easier, buy precooked bacon and simply microwave it for about 1 minute to cook. This way, you donโ€™t have to fry raw bacon in a skillet, which can make a mess
  • Burger toppings: Sliced cheese (cheddar cheese, Monterey Jack, mozzarella, provolone, pepper jack, etc), lettuce, tomatoes
  • Burger buns: Use any hamburger buns you like best, and opt for gluten-free options, if needed

How to Make BLT Grilled Turkey Burgers

These burgers are so easy that you may never go back to other recipes again!

  1. Stir togetherย the ground turkey, onion, ketchup,ย Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
  2. Portion the meat mixture into four patties of equal size.ย I used 1 pound of lean ground turkey, which makes four 1/4 pound turkey burgers.
  3. Grill the turkey burgers over medium-high heat until cooked through. You donโ€™t want to overcook your turkey burgers. Otherwise, theyโ€™ll turn out tough and dry. You need to grill the turkey burgers until no longer pink in the center, and no further.ย Youโ€™ll know theyโ€™re done when they reach an internal temperature of 165ยฐF when measured with a meat thermometer.
  4. In the last few minutes of cooking, top each of the turkey burger patties with a slice of cheese to melt.ย
  5. Once the cheese is melted, assemble your BLT grilled turkey burgers with any extra toppings such as BBQ sauce, mayonnaise, red onion, etc.

No Grill? No Problem!

If you donโ€™t have an outdoor grill, use an indoor grill pan, or cook these grilled turkey burgers in a skillet.

Grilled BLT Turkey Burgers

By Averie Sunshine
๐Ÿฅ“๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ” JUICY grilled turkey burgers topped with cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato!! EASY, ready in 15 minutes, and perfect for summer parties! Healthier than beef and IRRESISTIBLE!
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 20 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 pound Butterball Ground Turkey, fresh or frozen
  • ยผ cup finely minced white or yellow onion
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt, or to taste
  • ยฝ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, or to taste
  • 10 slices cooked bacon
  • 4 slices cheddar, American, or Swiss cheese (or your favorite), or to taste
  • leafy lettuce, to taste (I used organic romaine)
  • 1 to 2 tomatoes, sliced thin
  • 4 buns or rolls for serving, lightly toasted if desired
  • ketchup, mustard, pickles, or favorite condiments, for serving

Instructions

  • Preheat grill to medium-high heat (or preheat a grill pan or cast iron skillet indoors) and oil the grill grates.
  • To a large bowl, add the turkey, onion, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and stir to combine.
  • Form 4 patties; they will be very soft. If necessary, put them in the fridge as necessary to chill and firm up a bit.
  • Place patties on the grill and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until burgers are cooked through.
  • In the last approximately 2 minutes of cooking, top each burger with about 3 slices bacon (Tip โ€“ Buy precooked bacon and simply microwave it for about 1 minute to cook), cheese, and close the grill lid so the cheese melts.
  • After cheese has melted, place the burgers on buns, top with lettuce, tomato, condiments, and serve immediately. Burgers are best warm and fresh.

Notes

Storage: Store leftover burger patties in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days. Warm them in a skillet over medium heat or in the microwave before adding them to your buns.

  1. Iโ€™m sure this was not your doing, but your recipe was promoted on RecipeLion.com as โ€œDadโ€™s Favorite Recipe from the 1970sโ€. I grew up in the 60s and 70s. There was no such thing as turkey burgers back then!

  2. Yuuum! There’s absolutely nothing better than a juicy burger hot off the grill in the summertime. This looks like pure perfection!

  3. These look delicious and it gives me a great idea for the 4th (hard to belive it will be here next week already)! Speaking of grilling, you also gave us a great thought about an outdoor grill with a direct gas line. That would be a nice and very ย convenient upgrade!ย

    1. Soooo convenient! I cannot even tell you what a nice thing it is to never have to worry about an empty tank!

And I know, crazy to believe the Fourth is right around the corner!
